What I don't get is that Apple makes custom chips, right? Not totally different, but still custom. But Samsung, a competitor, produces it. So certainly Samsung will rip off their custom designs? Better for Apple to produce their chips...
I just don't see it. They have 45 million users. They have maybe 1 million paying customers. They have to keep growing year on year. Infrastructure costs are high. Most consumers are just too stupid to see any value in paid joining....

Is this only for publishers, or also for content distributors? The question is, does the uptake of subscribers via in-app outweigh the costs of 30 percent? Maybe publishers would like a higher take, but what if this in-app thing...
Uhh, but the GSM Association has proposed embedded SIM cards with remote activation for 2012. It's in the news. Originally read it on Engadget. So it's coming, via Apple or otherwise.
