It would be good to investigate who the perpetrators of these "words" are because the evidence I see first hand says otherwise. I do not own an iPhone here in Japan myself, but I have played with the SoftBank iPhone of a co-worker. I also have a brother in CA who uses an iPhone on the AT&T network. And of course as I stated previously, I use a Japanese brand SoftBank phone (705P) under SoftBank's ¥980/mo White Plan. Except for a dropped call now and then, there is...
He could also be Brian Chen in disguise.
I've lived here in central Japan (Aichi-ken) for nearly 15 years. I've seen and toyed with many Japanese cell phones through the years. I can tell you they are all about the same when it comes to UI stupidity. Yes, they may have a couple cool features that are unique to Japan (e.g., e-payments, bar code reading), but that matters nothing to me if the UI is brain dead. Most Japanese whom I associate with have an interest in the iPhone, but the two main turn-offs...
Cheap or expensive, the main problem is the human element behind the camera. My PowerShot G5 will do the same if I shoot a closeup fully zoomed out. That's why the photographer in this story should have used his head, put the camera on a tripod, and then used full zoom on the camera to eliminate the distortion. It's easy to do. And honestly, we are all reading this story to see just how amazing the Kindle is, so I for one want to see some crisp, non-distorted photos of...
I truly hope this photo is of the actual Mini that is soon to be release, for the lone reason of killing all the pessimism that I read in this thread. I don't care how Apple screwed up by removing FW on the MacBook. Perhaps they have learned their lesson after the fall-out over that and realized you need to add MORE value to computers, yes even low end ones, in this difficult economic climate. But Apple Insider's last sentence seems to indicate that the release of...
Please cut us a break. Apple itself is the one who has set the standard for what is to be expected at MacWorld. "MacWorld" centers on the Mac, which is an Apple product. It does not center on "us" technically, hence "self-centered" is largely irrelevant here. Everyone knows the Mac should always be paramount at any show bearing its name. And with this being their last appearance at MACworld, Apple should have exited with a bang. But now they will be know in the Apple...
While I certainly am pleased to see signs of "the faithful" in this forum (I too having been loyal to the Mac platform since 1984), I disagree with a lot of the reasoning presented about Woz. Should we christen Woz CEO of Apple because "Apple wouldn't exist without Woz" and because "Woz is someone we can trust"? Keep in mind that if Woz had been at the help instead of Jobs, we'd still be using OS 9 (not all that bad because I still like the old OS, but a major point of...
He certainly does. The man must weigh 225lbs now. And as to the silly CEO remarks, anyone remember Wheels of Zeus? Woz may have been a genius as an engineer in his prime, but what has he done since then? And even if one can argue that Woz has engineered something great outside Apple (universal remote controllers perhaps?), such is by no means a qualification for being a CEO. One of Apple's all time worst CEO's ever (Spindler) had an engineering background. I like Woz...
Sounds like jragosta helped write this article! LOL I've been a Mac fanatic since the very first Mac 128k rolling out in 1984. I've seen Apple develop through the years and have read just about every book on Apple and Jobs ever published. The fact is that Jobs is too unique to ever be complete institutionalized. Even so, Apple will not up and die when Steve does, although the idiots on Wall Street will certainly bash my AAPL holdings when Steve does go. However, it...
Carniphage, you appear to be European, but your philosophy toward Japan parallels that of the US. Indeed, it makes sense as it is a typical "Westerner's ideology" on not modifying products for the Japanese market. So let's give deeper thought to what you are saying: 1) Japan really isn't that big/significant a market 2) We'd probably fail if we tried and lose money too 3) Our changes might drive up prices 4) Trying is a waste of time because it's a hard market to...
