like simple document viewing without an internet connection. I need a Documents folder that I can view when I don't have an internet connection. Can't be done without resorting to awkward workarounds. In searching, the best solution I can find is to save as a PDF to iPhoto and then set up sync. Not the most intuitive solution and it also breaks up the doc into individual images with grainy text. Another solution is AirSharing. You shouldn't need third party...
Prediction - Apple will reject Opera by claiming it can be used to view porn.
Even iTunes is still Carbon. It's really in need of a rewrite as it's become slower and more bloated with every release. I don't think the 64 bit transition was a widespread problem simply because very few apps have a pressing need to switch to 64 bit. But for pro audio, video, graphic design, etc there is a big advantage, one that become more obvious as RAM prices continue to drop. Not sure how much of CS5 will be 64 bit besides Photoshop. Probably Premiere Pro,...
Right I forgot how Apple was taking the lead by porting Final Cut, Logic Pro, and their other pro apps to CocoaÂ…er nevermind. Final Cut still isn't Cocoa. Logic just became so. Besides if the roadmap was so clear why did Apple say they would do 64 bit Carbon? Why did they wait until WWDC to announce their reversal? Surely the decision was made at least weeks ago. I know of at least one other developer, Steinberg, makers of pro audio software, who expressed frustration at...
That was entirely Apple's fault. They promised 64 bit Carbon then yanked it at the last minute, waiting until WWDC even though the decision was likely made well before that, forcing developers to start from scratch. For all the hype Apple has given Cocoa, all of their pro apps (except Aperture) were still Carbon until a year ago. Since Windows' developer roadmap isn't tied to its CEO's mood swings, 64 bit was delivered on Windows first.
Why would he drive all the way to Reno to avoid camping at Burning Man? All the rich guys just get luxury RVs out there,
1) I didn't say that makes it a better machine, I was just pointing out Apple's habit of nickel and diming customers. Why do $800-1000 PCs, which AI forum members accuse of trying to cut every corner to offer low prices, have more memory than a $2500 top of the line workstation. Apple is notoriously stingy with RAM and hard drives, though not as bad as they used to be. 2) Snow Leopard on my unibody MBP with only 2 GB RAM was ridiculously slow. I frequently got beach balls...
Will it still have a pitiful 3GB of memory in the base configuration? Even cheap Dell desktops have more RAM in their stock configurations.
So you're saying Buffett really isn't actually paying a substantially less percentage of his income than his secretary? For those who say Cook deserved it - why not $35M, $50M or even $100M. How much is too much? If he only got a measley $15M do you really think he'd leave? Why not give more money to the engineers who actually design and build the revolutionary products that Apple creates? Without them, Cook would be nothing. I doubt the highest paid among them gets more...
Bobertoq, facts will get you nowhere around here.
