Last year IIRC, there was an update to firmware that addressed this issue on the MBP. Maybe they haven't got to it yet for Mbpr. Sorry can't be of any help - I don't have a Mbpr I can test with :-) Only thing I could suggest trying is to...
Been to Sys Prefs>Displays yet ? In there you can choose the different settings needed to output the correct signal for your monitors.
