The Apple iPhone will only work on LTE carriers with an arrangement with Apple, after pulling the OS apart in the last iPad LTE, Apple disables the LTE option in the default carrier package so unless there is a package (which is determined by the IMSI of the SIM), it won't work even if it supports the bands.  It won't work on LTE unless Apple adds the configuration, of course when the jailbreak comes out , then ones that would be jailbroken would be able to be...
Nano sims aren't just smaller , they are thinner as well and the pads are actually smaller than the micro.. you can't just cut them down without making them thinner somehow...
I wouldn't say its the exact chip, it may have dual A15's on it but Apple owns the IP for the power saving etc from Intrincity. If Samsung make the exact chip that they OEM for Apple, that would be a big lawsuit.
One thing to remember , I was at CTIA in March 2010 and that was just after the Samsung CEO said their tablet was garbage and it had to be redesigned.  When I went to the Samsung booth in 2010, there was the old black tablets that were operational  and this sleek one setting in a glass cube that would not operate... it sure as heck looked like a iPad copy and there was no way that they could have designed that from scratch in the time the CEO said their first attempt was...
This is only effective when there is a central database that all carriers lookup and or write to.  I think this was where the FCC was going.  BTW, this was available on the old cellular networks when the devices cost more because AMPS and CDMA used an ESN which was used as part of the activation.  Since the IMSI (and subscription to the user) is tied to the SIM, the device is just a host and until recently couldn't be tracked (downside of the GSM technology).  The EIR...
Not True, the micro sim cards are starting to appear in Android as well...everyone is about saving space for more battery etc...
Actually if you look at their lineup, most of their smartphones have supported 1900 Mhz 3G for quite some time.
This is part of normal court proceedings, that is why there would be no samsung or apple employees or for that matter people who are related to someone who works at either company if there was a jury.  The courtroom is supposed to be neutral territory so I am sure that either company wants no brand of the other shown in the courtroom but because its Apple, its front page news.  I am sure Samsung has asked this request in every court proceeding they have had to date, if...
Actually its not as simple as that, if they charge too much , the companies will close up shop and move elsewhere (China).  If for example a company create's employment for 500,000 people, in effect the government gets taxes from those folks that they may or may not get normally.  Governments have to make it attractive for companies to exist, if not , they won't come.   Its a lot more complicated than what they make it, it isn't tax evasion, its smart business.
What no one bothers talking about is the fact that the high end androids carry as high a subsidy if not more when the carriers have to drop them to 0 dollars to get rid of them. Analysts don't have a clue how subsidies work with phones. For the record, it was the carriers that started doing this to attract more customers to generate more revenue, not the manufacturers so stop bitching when they manufacturers are charging more than 0 dollars to purchase phones. It is...
