You make some good points in your post. However, I don't think that calling people fandroids moves the discussion forward. Especially when the person your talking to says they are a fan of Apple.I think the part that strikes me as sensationalist in the AI summary is this "These apps can the track the user, access their calling information, collect all kinds of sensitive information on their phone, and then upload it to foreign servers before the user is even aware that a...
I am a big fan of technology. I'd rather hear both sides. Is there some kind of notification on new software being installed when you buy software from the android market website? I didn't see any when I watched the Google webcast announcing the new feature but I could have missed it. OK, so I crack someone's Android Marketplace password. In order to install malicious software it would have to exist in the Android Marketplace somewhere right? Are the apps in the...
Great, I'm glad to hear you had responded over there. I've never found the discourse reasonable enough to sign up for an account. Today definitely reinforced my opinion.
I think there is a point where you can push technology too far. I agree, I think at this point iPad's for every student is excessive and I doubt very much that it will be less expensive than conventional text books. That being said there are a lot of innovative ways to teach with technology. There are ways of interacting with the students which make teaching and learning more fun and affective. Exposing our youth to technology will aid them in using it in their day to...
Good one!
I'm not going to go into too much depth. I suppose they could be categorized as follows.- Juvenile negative comments about his appearance and the woman's voice- Prejudiced and condescending comments about working class people being excited about and owning iOS devices (even if it mattered, we know nothing about these people's backgrounds)- Broad negative comments about people in the midwestThat probably doesn't cover it all but after the initial shock of reading the...
I was reading some of the comments in response to a similar story linked to the same youtube video over on MacRumors. I hope this thread avoids the insults to this gentleman and the woman shooting the video.
My wife has been working the last few years to raise funding for our school district's smart board initiative. They are planning on a significant amount of the cost involved in deploying the technology being training for the teachers because some of the interaction with the device is counter intuitive. I relayed your girlfriend's experience to her. As of now the boards have only been deployed to a few tech savvy teachers who want to push the bounds and are willing to...
Exactly. Technologies like iPads make learning fun for kids and get them to embrace technology. My kids will do just about anything if they can do it on the iPad. By exposing them to the technology they aren't afraid of it. My local school district has been deploying iPad's in limited quantities for use in the classroom side by side with interactive whiteboard technology from Hitachi http://www.hitachi-soft.com/starboard/ . Unfortunately they don't really work that...
Many of these kinds of criticisms were only relevant before IOS 4.2.http://www.apple.com/ipad/business/software-update/IOS 4.2 already supports centralized profiles to lock down the device.http://developer.apple.com/library/i...roduction.htmlYou can create them using this utility.http://developer.apple.com/library/i...roduction.htmlYou can house your own personal App Store to distribute your own applications within your...
