Let's hope they came up with a different method from Celemony's existing DNA - http://www.celemony.com/cms/index.php?id=dna - which is amazing but rather expensive. Also, there's a big difference between simply spotting the notes in polyphonic audio (the upcoming Ableton Live 9 will do that and spit out MIDI information) and allowing you to manipulate the polyphonic audio itself, which is what Celemony's DNA does. This story makes it sound like Apple is getting a patent...
Here's a fact about Vista - I got it on a reasonably high end Dell laptop three months ago. It still won't install SP1 due to driver issues (and it has the latest drivers on offer). Two days ago it took five and a half hours to transfer 110 Mb of small files from my NAS drive to my local drive. It wasn't a problem with the connection - I tested that, and did some other transfers successfully - it's a basic problem with Vista's file handling, which makes my ethernet...
