Not in this case.  From their website, explaining the charts:   "IDC considers all LCD-based slate devices with screens between 7 and 16 inches as tablets, regardless of whether or not they include a removable keyboard (such as the Surface RT).   Convertible devices with non-removable keyboards (such as Lenovo's Yoga) are not counted as Tablets."
Yeah, as you know, a barometer is no good for altitude unless it has a reference (starting height or local pressure) to work from.     Good Q.  Reportedly the temperature sensor is affected by phone heat, which points out a need for a local reference point to sync to.  Perhaps needs another one on the battery to measure its heat output.   So maybe a remote sensor makes more sense (pun?) at times.  Like that Kickstarter project, the Bluetooth based Node sensor, with...
"Early on, both sides determined it would be a bad idea for Apple to offer its own cellphone service, leasing access to Cingular's network.   "Even though Virgin Mobile USA and other startup cellphone operators were using that method with some success, Mr. Jobs was cautious. He viewed the cellphone business as an unforgiving one, where carriers are blamed for network problems and overwhelmed by customer complaints.   "Instead, he wanted to focus on building a good...
It might be referring to cases where the iPhone was sold with LTE, but Apple refused to turn it on until they did their own testing.     Need a source for the claim that the iPhone makes up most of their profit.     Actually, the last time (a year ago) that I looked at Apple's own list of iPhone carriers around the world, about half of them do not offer unlocked iPhones.   Seems to really depend on the region.
Of course, the huge difference is that Samsung never did any assembling for Apple.  Or build cases.  Or see UI stuff before it went on sale.  Or know what all the components would be.  Foxconn does.     Perhaps, although that would open up all sorts of cans of worms about employment, taxes, publicity over treatment, etc.   Heck, it could even affect royalties. For example, supposedly Apple only pays FRAND royalties on the price they pay Foxconn to build and package each...
True, they would have to do all that.  They certainly have the resources.   It might not be as tiny as people think.   The articles claiming Samsung doesn't sell a lot of high end phones, always seem to leave out the Note, which is, if anything, even higher end than the regular Galaxy S model.  They also leave out the other high end models still being sold.     Take 4Q 2012 as an example.  Of the estimated 65 million smartphones Samsung sold, about 29 million were new...
According to Electronista, the questionnaire asks about what Apple requires of carriers, such as:   Minimum purchase requirement Restrictions on marketing Subsidy requirements Technical restrictions   The questionnaire reportedly comments that, "If the existence of such behavior were to be confirmed, it might constitute an infringement of [antitrust law]".   Hmm.  Where have we heard this statement before?  Right... from the same European Commission when talking...
The article didn't say "falling demand".   It talked about falling profits, which is not always the same thing.  The iPad mini seems to be in demand, yet it makes less profit than the original iPad.   That said, Hon Hai (Foxconn's parent) has had falling profit margins during the past half decade, and it's true  that analysts often tie their fate together with Apple's.   E.g. in charts like this one:     Although, look at the HonHai trend downward just before the...
You shouldn't be surprised if your points are ignored, valid or not.   When someone leads off their post with name-calling, and then sprinkles in more insults later on, few readers are going to take the rest of that poster's "discussion" seriously.   This simple social interaction rule seems to go over the head of some of the more prolific posters here.   --   Try making your point again without insults.     It seemed to be something about Apple not making changes just...
