+1 to removing optical drive and putting in space for a optional SSD. No built in SSD as I want a Sandforce and not some jMicron crap. More battery life as the normal HDD is usually powered down. Enough storage space for everyone without carrying arround external drives and having to plug them in. If I ever use the optical drive it is to install Linux or something and this I do at home anyway. Also they should add one or two more battery cells into the remaining...
I also thing there will be no USB 3.0 in the next generation because it is not in the Intel Chipset and I doubt Apple puts a seperate Chip on the board to enable it. That isn't really an Apple like move. FW3200 is something I doubt will ever make it to market but I really don't care. Concerning LP. What I read is that USB 3.0 has a pin or empty space that is there to channel optical data through. It is not yet defined what happens with this, but I guess they will use it...
The highend Desktop parts GTX 470 and GTX 480 come on the 26th. Mobile parts are not likely to arrive anytime soon. Although it is not completely impossible I think the likelyhood of mobile 400 Series Cards in Q2 2010 is about 3%. Q3, Q4 or Q1 2011 are more likely. If they really wait for Fermi (what I doubt) than there is no upgrade till at least end of June.
I think they should find a way to transfer all the heat to the display cover. If you make this one slightly higher and rip it, you could get a big passive cooling unit. The benefit would be a very quiet cooling (aid at the very least) and you heat up a part for a change that nobody cares about. Nobody wants the palmrests to serve as passive cooling heatsinks or the bottom of the notebook. All the have to figure out is how to transfer heat fast over something that allows...
Little Chip explanation. Arrendale is 2 Core and basicly a 45nm shrink of the old Intel Northbridge (with the new Intel HD GPU) and only the cores of the Nehalem Design. The Quad Core Clarksfield Core i7 are much lower clock and although they can use Turbo Boost to get from 1,6 - 2,8 Ghz they don't reach clock speeds as high as Arrendale but are still faster. The reason is they are real Nehalem(not just the cores) they have a memory controller on DIE which is really...
I doubt that. We will probably see some 3X0 GPU in there as Optimus is almost certain and that is probably the only choice. The 3X0 GPUs suck compared to ATI HD 5XX0 Series but Apple was never at the cutting edge with this stuff, therefore it is likely the go for a convenient but slow Optimus GPU. On March 26th there will be the Desktop Fermi Paper Launch. Although Nvidia said that they intend to release a broad range of products and not only the Desktop/Workstation...
I think this whole article is ridiculous even if it were all true. I own an iphone but also had an old Trekstor mp3 player with an oled screen, which could only display blue, orange and black in a low pixel density. Still if I could choose between an iphone with only black and white OLED and the current one I'd take the OLED. OLED is simply outstanding in contrast ratios and looks simply awesome compared to a standard washed out LCD. Especially in total darkness and also...
This thread is about GPUs and you are whining about Blue Ray. wtf Too add some whining that is more appropriate to the thread. It seems to be quite unlikely that we get faster ATI GPUs but instead Apple will use the in comparison for the TDP slower Nvidia GPUs as they are the only ones that support Optimus. They could rework the driver model and enable easier switching between ATI and Intel GPU but that is more than unlikely and would never be as seemless. I guess the...
Some people here don't seem to understand how Opera Turbo works. It does not simple render the page on the server and send it as a jpg to the Browser. That is ridiculous all the CSS Information, Links everything would be gone or would have to be transported otherwise. It would also likely be not a compression in many cases. Opera Mini is a normal Browser in the normal meaning of this word. All it does is it gets a compressed Website from the Server. The Servers compress...
I do know that the 720 is not in the T410. It was just an example of a chip that in my opinion is not a real notebook chip. I guess I overreacted a little as I expected some significant battery life imporvements. Here is a T410 review and this was always my T400 high nit source along with this T400. Here is T410 with IGP and non. I should have checked the reviews on the same site as testing of battery life is always a little different. The laptopmag comparison...
