Correct. The original iPad did not achieve full worldwide distribution. It was marketed to a subset of Apple's iPhone/iPod countries. There is plenty of growth in existing markets, and more growth in untapped markets. Supply will be the limiting factor.
What other local facilities would suit this type of event? Not Santa Clara Convention Center. Certainly not the large sports arenas (which couldn't be booked for the 8-10 days necessary for setup/event/teardown). Not Fort Mason. Not the San Mateo Event Center. Not the Alameda County Fairgrounds. Not the Cow Palace. Apple is quite familiar with what Moscone Center offers and the fact that they are only renting out Moscone West may indicate that the North and South Halls do...
Apple's cost to run a developer conference are not trivial. Running multiple developer conferences around the globe gets very expensive, very fast. It's one thing to send several trucks forty miles up I-280, tell your 1000 participating engineers to file expense reports for the commute (half of whom probably live in the City anyhow), and tell them to sleep at home. It's another thing to fly hundreds of systems, people, marketing materials to convention centers around the...
Apple, like many other online retailers (Amazon, etc.), will break up orders with multiple items and charge you for the items they can ship immediately. Since you don't know this already, I assume you are a novice online shopper. There is nothing odd for them to charge you for the products they shipped. When your iPad is imminently ready to ship, Apple will process the charge. They have no interest in charging much more than a day or two before they ship, due to thorny...
If you read the original linked article, it is more clear that Forrester is predicting a 50% revenue increase annually over the next two years for Apple, toppling IBM's sales in a year, and then HP's sales in two years.
This comment demonstrates your utter lack of knowledge about how Apple runs its business and specifically its policy about talking about unannounced products. Thanks for playing. We have some nice parting gifts for you.
It is amazing, however Apple is not the biggest company in the world. That position goes to Exxon-Mobil.
Even if the Xoom is a decent competitor to the iPad on specs, Motorola is still working at a disadvantage. I won't delve too deeply into the whole iTunes Store/App Store ecosystem thing; that's been rehashed many times before. However, it is worth pointing out that Apple is probably enjoying heftier margins on its tablet. First of all, Apple is selling a lot of them through their own retail operations (online as well as bricks-and-mortar). Motorola does not have a...
Well, at least they've been getting a bargain. Steve is the only non-executive board member who is not being compensated. For everyone else, this is a pay job. Oddly, this is similar to Steve's position at Apple; his annual salary is one dollar. At least Steve brought something to the table: Pixar. Without them, Disney would have been a world of pain relying on their own animations.
Correct.Ireland (and others) don't get it.They apparently do not remember Microsoft's complete debacle with the T-Mobile Sidekick. A lot of users had paperweights because over-the-air syncing failed and there was no hard-wired backup option (or rather, it wasn't available unless you paid for third-party options).Ongoing snafus with cloud computing services have basically soured the notion of a consumer-grade wireless solution for the next several years. These companies...
