Apple is all holistic. They optimize a hand-held tablet under mind-bending constraints. Performance, ease-of-use/comfort, sturdiness, power usage, esthetics, integration, all elements that cannot be taken in isolation from one another. You can sum it all up in one word: design, ...Apple-type design.Steve Jobs' specter from beyond: "Can we ship by the early days of November a 7,85" one-handed premium tablet? Something mind-blowing that you could grasp between middle-finger...
The successful implementation of Apple Maps relied on a quick and massive move away from the original Maps App, a turn-around made possible by a causal drift from iOS5 to iOS6...itself sparked by the mythical iPhone5 highly anticipated introduction. A precious window of opportunity was opening up to endow Siri with a native pair of legs, a set of original wheels, and compasses...moral and physical...for equally good measures. It' s a simple, but heart-wrenching trade-off....
Google/Samsung knew. That two tier search engine at Mountain View...one for the commons, one for inside trackers only...worked overtime to peer into that guy's past before sending him...vanity first... out on a suicide mission. But I would add one essential qualifier to this forlorn hypothesis. The guy wasn't meant to be Google/Samsung's scapegoat as the optimal defendant's outcome. His past...from a big corporation perspective...as a hot-head, 'know-it-all' litigator, was...
On the one hand, ...a sleight of hand...?If they can cram twice the internals of the iPad 'two-handed' 1st generation into a 'one-handed' slate, shed half its weight, cut the original price by half, ...and increase battery time between charges by half, well...that glass of iOS 6 whine will look half-empty to a whole lot of happy-hours patrons heading into grumpy season...On the other hand, ...a handmaiden...?Two and a half years, ...from infancy to adulthood... Hmm...the...
It picked the lake, ...you would've hung on to your car. For you, ...a no- brainer; for Apple Maps, it was a wash.
7,85 inches diagonal happens to be close to the optimal size for a one-handed slate. Therefore, one who's used to raising the middle finger while extending one's thumb would surely enjoy having one's hand hold a square deal instead of a lingering grudge...
Never tarnish your brand with a moxy-draining fistfight, ... when you can put some extra shine on it with the humble bending of your might. That being said, shrewd timing and a forward looking move by Apple. At a price.
Rough edges don't play well with Apple's attuned geometry. Straight forward humility and purity of intentions do. Leave aggressiveness to the naughty 'coming-from-behind' ones.Apple ought to behave in a way consistent with the nobility perspiring from the absolutely magnificent iPhone 5. And so they do.
Some five years into the past, Apple signed a contract with the devil's second-in-command, ...who happened to be sitting on Apple's Board at the time. And now the devil itself comes in to claim its dues. A dent of  in a reputation, ...freedom as a prey. Fair deal for everybody,  lest you were second-in-command...for you alone bear the weight of eternity...
Google is working 24/7 at severing the emotional bond which glues the Apple ecosystem together. They've covertly mapped out the typical end user's psyche through their five year old grassroots partnership with Apple, ...just as they've overtly and thoroughly mapped out the executives' mindset through...in part...Schmidt's probing sentience deep into Apple's inner sanctum. And Google holds enormous sway with the press. The Google myth, along with a few pat-on-the-back...
