For consistently reinforcing my decision to put you on the ignore list!!! Enjoy your class guilt, your entitlement jingoism, your desire to run the world into the ground for no effective improvement to the human condition. Fake ideals are far more important than real influence, than really making a difference. Remember, it's all about you, and what you believe. Not reality.
It was in Apple's best interest to move these assembly jobs to the the US they would. If the government saw a value to these aseembly jobs - they could create a climate where supporting those assembly jobs would be in a company's best interest and they would be here. And they employ a lot of Americans (as well as other native workers in other countries as well) - perhaps they should offer jobs for Americans overseas? Because you cannot build the same assembly line...
So companies are not allowed to cultivate unique approaches to innovation, to seek out and hire the best minds they can afford? And you have a unique concept of "monopoly". Monopoly is inherently anti-competitive in nature - which is why there are controls in place to mitigate that. Great minds for Apple are not necessarily great minds for Google and vice versa. Just as former Apple execs have gone on to do other work after a tenure at Apple, their value is related to...
Given that this is tied to Apple partners in Europe - there may be some other strategy at work as well. Certainly an appeal by Apple is anticipated, but they may also be looking at a longterm solution that sidesteps the Motorola patent entirely. All that being said, I wonder what part of the European market Germany represents for Apple?
This is the reason you figure so prominently on so many ignore lists. It doesn't matter who hangs on who's words, and dismissing the rest of the board here with "you all deify Steve Jobs" as a means of ignoring the factual arguments along with the opinions is simply behaving like an advocate of Google/Android. It is a classic debating tactic, and one that anyone with an actual command of the facts doesn't have to use. The fact remains that for Posner to have registered...
And you probably didn't take a shower this morning or brush your teeth. And you left food past the expiration date in the fridge, not to mention driving a high gas consumption car. Or perhaps Gordo could lighten up a titch...
This is easy, and let's leave off the OT issues around trade unions and the one-man show. Those are not important. What other companies are as proactive as Apple, as high profile as Apple that are pursuing as agressively as Apple the improvement of worker conditions in their supply chains? Samsung? Sony? Nokia? Microsoft? Dell? HP? Lenovo? Asus? Acer? LG? HTC? Motorola? The why of the articles, the one-man show, and so forth are easy. Apple is the highest profile...
It is supremely ironic that NYT happen to have these series about Apple timed as it is around an expected outstanding quarter of sales reported. Or not, depending how cynical you are. The NYT exists to sell ad space supported by news (note: it used to be the other way around in the beginning) - thus a series like this is uniquely planned and designed to leverage the most possible web hits and paper sales and media coverage out of Apple success. Are anonymous executives...
(WARNING HUMOROUS CONTENT) With a deeper Apple war chest and massive iOS uptake, Android plateauing or even *gasp* declining, Google is getting twitchy with the puppet strings - or perhaps the drones at 'Rola are trying desparately to please their new overlords. Example the first: Larry Page & Andy Rubin: "Get us SanJay on the line!" SanJay:"This is Sanjay, what's up guys?" LP&AR:"Sanjay did you see the reports? We need to cut the legs out from under iOS immediately -...
Being Slapppy Malkovich: Wait who's losing??? Oh snap, maybe not so much... A spike - like Mount Everest is a spike, yep. Huge drop there... Oh wait, massive share gain... Yeah - Tim Cook looked terrified didn't he... ***WHEW*** I hate when Slapppy (not to mention ApplevsSamsung) drops the ball like that. Hope that was enough to balance the viewpoints here....
