I think we're saying the same thing. It's very important for Walmart to be seen in the industry as a powerful retail player. They would rather have press about losing a 'philosophical argument', than losing a market battle. They can only muscle people that need Walmart's distribution channel. Apple doesn't. What's more, they interview itself indicates that not only did Apple NOT need Walmart, Walmart felt the need for more compelling consumer items in order to...
How is it that tunes from other sites don't work with the iPod? My old 30GB model is stuffed with tunes, and none of them come from the iTMS. I would assume that any MP3 or AAC would work. So we're talking about two things. One: Windows media. The sooner that dies, the better. Two: other players. They won't play iTMS tracks, but that's no reason not to stock or buy iPods so much as a reason not to frequent the iTMS. So what's the real argument? Walmart...
You defined the use, that's good. Now take a reasonable apraisal of the room and your typical viewing distance. How big do you want this set to be, and how far back/forward do you expect to sit, but also, and this is key, how much of your living space do you really want to give up? If you have a HUGE room, a cheaper CRT based projection set can be a good option, but these are really big, they often don't look so bulky in a show room, where the warehouse environment...
A 42" EDTV flat panel will look great at normal (casual) viewing distances. You might also look at a DLP set of 720P resolution at a similar size. These also take up very little room and look great, and you might find it for a similar price. I don't know that you can find projection based EDTV anymore, most of them are plasmas. Just throwing an option out there. 42" is basically the smallest "big screen" size. EDTV will suffer a bit if you go 50"+, but your...
If the Sony does indeed support dual screen 1080P, that would be neat, but almost no one will be in a position to use that feature. The 720P/1080i of Xbox is more than fine. System specs also look roughly equal with the exception of next gen media on the PS3. It's obvious that Sony is pushing to make BR Disc the HDTV media of choice. If they succeed, it may in fact enjoy a very long run (similar to CD's) as the physical media for consumers -- for the simple fact that...
They could all very well be .5 updates in a sense... At some point graphical prowess will not substantially change the way we interact with game environs. They prettier the better, sure, but it doesn't look like any of the systems will suffer for either resolution, polys, or textures -- so perhaps that is not what can distinguish them. And while most games will look better, they may not really play any better. Things like online play, media center...
My brother just picked one up. Not so impressive really. I'm not floored by either Kong or Quake -- but with rare exception, the FPS is by far the most stagnant area of game design. Most are very boring, I don't how people can stand to play them, let alone buy computers and consoles for that express purpose. I guess I'm not what you would call a gamer. I'm willing to be impressed by another Halo or a realistic FPS War simulation though... My favorites include the...
Intel Extreme! yay!
Love the chiminea. Use it all the time. What are people putting into these things to cause odour? Wood and or coal burns well and doesn't stink... sorry. People burning wet yard waste, that smells
It's all about power to weight. BTW, it seems that Kawasaki is no longer content to abide by Japan Inc's voluntary 300km/h (186mph) limit. Enter the ZX-14. Rumor has it 180-200hp are on tap... should have over 100lbs/ft as well. At least when hauling a bike around these open class motors (hayabusa, blackbird, zx-12) seem to live forever, so now me starts to think: "project car!" Shit, you can buy the whole bike for less than some motors, and you just know that the...
