I got a cheaper better sleeper for ya. Take one Smart and plunk a superbike class engine in it. Do a web search, there's one out there with a slightly breathed upon GSXR1000 engine (about 180HP) It shouldn't work so well, but it does, apparently, giving a stock Evo more of a scare than it has any business doing. It's too bad the smart roadster looks like it does. Same conversion, but with that lower/sportier chassis... Just wait untill someone puts an open...
I call bulls*it on the "not enough demand" comments. Firstly, you don't wait for demand, you create it. I don't know of anyone who wouldn't want the feature integrated. You can't judge demand by sales of tacky add-ons. Integrate, people will buy it. DAB and FM, thanks. Secondly, there is a consistent demand out there for radio and/or recording (live pause/play features) as well as voice. I still see meet so many people using a mic with a Minidisc or a dedicated...

There is only one solution to congestion, and it doesn't involve ineffectual attempts at behavior modification, wars against motorists, or special priviledges for specific classes of commuter. It is as simple as good urban planning. When the transit corridors make sense, when the distribution of residential, commerical, industrial lands is balanced and appropriate, then traffic issues resolve themselves. People bus it because it makes sense, or walk, or drive, and all...
PPC EOL date + 1-3 years of Apple Care = supply through 2007-08. This way anything coming in within a year will get repaired, leaving behind enough chips for anything that could potentially come back in two or three years -- if the actuaries have done the math right. Expect one or two tales of Apple replacing faulty PPC product with an Intel offering towards the very end of this period...
The faster the better. The only reason to keep a PPC powermac is for professional clients who might have an investment in custom software solutions. I would not however, expect those macs to keep pace, as Apple will have an interest in a demonstrable performance increase when the product is eventually transitioned. Ideally, the last stragglers would be able to run their wares under rosetta (on Intel) at the same speed as they did under OSX on PPC. This can only...
Like I've written before. I don't give a damn which format prevails, I just want to watch 1080i/p content. DRM is a pain in the ass, and will get defeated. The wisest thing for companies to do is not invest too much money in it. Look at box office and DVD sales... they're making plenty of money -- about the only thing invasive DRM schemes will accomplish is to annoy paying customers. At this point, I think Sony looks better to prevail. They can overcome inertia and...
