  • Microsoft lets new Word Flow keyboard loose on the App Store with one-handed mode

I never got past the warning that everything typed on the keyboard would be sent to MS. Uninstalled immediately. Too bad too. I really liked the premise of the angled keyboard for one-handed typing and wanted to give it a try. Oh well.
So nothing you ever say to Siri ever gets sent to Apple?
There is a big difference between the stuff I ask Siri (e.g. "What's the weather?" "What's playing at the movies?") and stuff I type on a keyboard (e.g. passwords, personal information, legally protected trade secrets, etc...)

  • Apple's iWork suites for iOS, Mac get minor updates for stability, bug fixes

I noticed a bug in the new version of Numbers. If you have an existing worksheet you cannot insert new rows. I hope they fix that soon.
    Have you reported the bug?

Nothing on iOS is peer reviewed as far as I know
On the contrary, large chunks of iOS and MacOS are open source and are constantly being reviewed by the open community. Additionally, iOS benefits from decades of open research in operating systems, general computer science, and UNIX.

I just got back from Apple's website. The new MBP 15" still maxes out at 16GB RAM. Arrrgggghg!!!!

I refuse to upgrade until they give me 32GB, minimum!
RAM is not as important as you think it is. The SSD is so fast, it can do a lot of RAM-like performance when RAM is short. The Mac memory management takes everything into consideration. When Intel comes out with its 3DXPoint storage, the RAM demands will dramatically drop as well because it would be just as fast as RAM.
Your use case is not universal. Some people use their laptops to run multiple VMs, do rendering, or run simulations which can use a lot of memory. And though an SSD is very fast compared to a spinning hard drive, the latency on a good SSD is still in the tens to hundreds of microseconds while DRAM is in the tens of NANOseconds – i.e. 3-4 orders of magnitude faster. If you have a memory intensive application going out to the SSD can kill performance.

I appreciate your perspective. But about 12 years ago, I bought a house. When I moved in, it was completely empty, and I showed it off to my friends, took them on tours, and had a nice party in it with lots of people in attendance. Now it is so jammed with stuff, I can't show it off to people. I actually have to keep some of my stuff somewhere else. The amount of stuff I have expands to the amount of space I have for it. I don't need a new house: I need less stuff. I've started throwing things away.

That's a great philosophy for a house, but doesn't always work for a place of business. For instance, you own a workshop or factory and buy some machine tools. Your business expands and you have to buy more tools to take on different projects until the house is filled. You could start throwing out tools, but that might limit your ability to take on new jobs of various sorts. So, maybe you might consider a bigger workshop?
