Inside iPhone 8: Apple's A11 Bionic introduces 5 new custom silicon engines
staticx57 said:Still waiting for for an iPad or iPhone to be even close to as versatile as my MacBook Pro in anything other than Geekbench. I’ll reserve judgement until the iPhone runs macOS.

Sleep tracking and monitoring coming to Apple Watch in 2020
Soli said:MacPro said:I look forward to Apple getting into this area and hopefully using sensors that go beyond motion. I've been testing AutoSleep as has my wife and the results seem somewhat dubious to us, to put it mildly. My wife is a poor sleeper often lying awake for hours which all get's logged as sleep. How it can recognize 'deep sleep' from 'quality sleep' based on movement as opposed to electrical read-outs from the brain is a mystery to me. For the price, I am not complaining but I suspect they are just novelty apps until more sensor data can be accessed. -
Power button Touch ID on the iPad Air 4 was an 'incredible feat'
canukstorm said:I don't want to take away from the great work Apple did with incorporating TouchID within the power button they could have simply used FaceID to pull off an all-screen design. There's enough bezel there to do it. FaceID is very convenient on a big screen device like an iPad.
Why? It may be less self-conscious than FaceID and maybe being much more secure. (Just a surmise.) -

Apple execs talk M1, chip specs versus real-world performance in interview

TOTALLY absurd if that's what you think motivated the moment.
How about branding and status as motivators instead? What's the only obvious difference between M1 Macs and Intel Macs?
Bingo!
M1s light up INSTANTLY letting everyone know that this is an M1. M1, take a bow and do your 'sunrise' thing (See millions of ad impressions and videos.).
PS - Apple famously did this with the White iPod earphone cables whose visuals were central to their ad campaign.

Apple refuses removal of Facebook App Pro-Palestinian 'review bomb'
Zuck must have considered his bottom line to be most important. Data trading was too appealing/profitable. ATT is killing that. (And something Jobs and Cook publically advised against years ago.)
Soon, all he will have to work with is Facebook's in-house data collection. Their mass surveillance revenue model is still a problem for the rest of us.
