It sounds like the leaker isn’t making any claims about a decrease in battery life, only claiming that the larger non-Pro model will have a decrease in battery capacity, of just under 10%, compared to its counterpart in the current line. “Life” is a…

One thing I haven’t seen mentioned much is the potential upside from iPad updates in the last weeks of the current quarter. This is the longest Apple has ever gone without an iPad update, and the current user base is probably the largest it’s ever b…

Might be time to update the DED bio—he’s been an AI contributor since 2005, but a journalist for only the last 15 years?

To offer support at this point, you’d need to be reasonably confident that 1) a lot of people will buy the $3500 AVP and use it a lot, 2) a decent percentage of those people will want to use your app with it, 3) the app experience would be far super…

It’s worth noting that once people have these, they’ll be giving demos to their friends and families, and in-store demos will be less necessary.

The last two times I bought iPhones at the Apple Store, I knew exactly what I wanted and was in a hurry but still couldn’t get out of there in less than an hour, due to the wait for a salesperson, then all of the talking they wanted to do, then brin…

I too think that lots of people will want to try it, but not many will feel compelled to spend that kind of money on the first generation device. It seems like incredible technology, but the battery life and comfort will need to be worked out in fut…

Leviton makes a system controllable with a normal-looking on/off switch that just attaches to the wall with screws or double-sided tape, no wiring or hub required. You just have to replace 2 button batteries every five years or so, apparently. But i…

Anyone upgrading from an 11 Pro or older model shouldn’t expect it to feel especially light—it’s only 1 gram lighter than the 11 Pro, and heavier than every older non-Max iPhone. But I do hope they continue to reverse the trend of ever-heavier phone…

My two big hopes for the next iPad Pro, neither of which seems unreasonable: front camera positioned for landscape orientation, as seen on the most recent new iPad model, and rounded edges, as seen on the most recent iPhones.

I’m surprised there isn’t more mention of the fact that R&D is up by $3.66 billion (14%). It’s a big increase that shows they are working on things that they think merit an even bigger investment than usual, and generally bodes well for the futu…

Kind of weird that Apple could think that you would never want to use the Action button without taking the phone out of your pocket. For some things, sure, but for silencing your phone, the mute switch was already better but now even more so.

The Lightning connector is going to be a dealbreaker for a lot of people at this point, whether you have a new iPhone or are thinking of getting one in the years to come.
