probably you log in from windows using your administrator username. you should create a guest account, so you can control exactly what you want to share. you may even create a special account for your network with easy password like: name="guest", p…

I just hope they keep Firewire!!! There are still some really good peripherals using firewire, and I prefer it for external storage too. SSD will most likely be used in every portable mac, but not in the near future due to high prices. LED backlig…

Thank you for the answer. I'd still prefere a more portable system. Eyetv hybrid is ideal, because it is bus powered. But perhaps I'll spend some more money and get the eyetv 250 which works with USB1.1 too (elgato FAQ). Still, does anyone have a …

I just wanted to ask another thing related to eyeTV and didn't want to create a new thread just for this. I have a Rev A Powerbook G4 (USB 1.1 only). Will either the elgato eyetv hybrid, or the eyetv 250plus work with my powerbook? I don't need rec…

I've not installed Leopard on my internal drive, but I have tested a install on a external firewire 4200rpm drive. (Rev. A Powerbook 12", 640MB Ram, 7200rpm drive) So my speed-test was with no heavy apps installed. I was very happy with the speed,…

I have tryed Leopard on my Rev A 12" Powerbook (640MB Ram, 867MHz and no Core Image capable graphics card). I've tried it on a external 4200rpm harddrive, and it ran really well! Even quicklook and this coverart finder-animation works fast and well.…

Apple Universal Dock for iPod. It will let you watch photos and video on a regular TV screen. You can synch and recharge your iPod (at least if you connect it to your computer or a wall plug), and you receive a remote control for your toy.

At least part of my questions are answered on the apple support site. Now there is just the quality question.. Has anybody experience with connecting an iPod nano to a normal TV? is it worth it for photos and videos? thanks

There's one more little bonus for Firewire! Have you noticed that the firewire 400 connector has plastic at it's end whereas the USB connector is all metal? Seems silly, but the firewire connector won't scratch your notebook as easily! The only pro…

Actually there is little reason to have an optical drive right now because of good flash based alternatives. But there is still one big reason I don't want to drop the optical drive right now: Burn data on discs! It is still the preferred way of sha…

First of all go to your preferences and turn of the option to delete messages from your server so you don't loose any data. Second, did you look into your Junk mail folder? maybe they were moved there. Third, have you any rules applied that move s…

I do connect to the internet through a router. Since the router has had some problems in getting the DNS information from my ISP automatically, I've set up all the computers on the network with DNS-server information from my ISP manually in the netw…

Ok, I've done it. My Powerbook got really faster. I've put a Hitachi 7200rpm drive in it. It got louder too, but not too much. Changing the disk is a lot of work, but not difficult. If someone needs help, I can now give some advices. There is jus…

Yes my powerbook is often running near 100%. It has just 867MHz, therefor it is not too difficult to reach this limit. Safari is also running most of the time. It is still fast enough, but I would like it to be more quiet. And since it was a lot qu…

Does anyone know if iChatAV will even run on a Rev. A 12" Powerbook (867MHz).. I mean will it be possible to make a three person chat with those cool mirrors and all that stuff and still encode in H.264? (The graphics card does not support CoreVideo…

You can try BurnX free . It's a very basic but yet powerfull burn software.. I use it for all my data CD's. I've never tried to burn 800MB CD's, but with this SW you can burn over 705MB on a 700MB CD.
