  • Rock Paper Pencil review: the iPad upgrade every artist needs

While it does give a "texture" of paper, the friction is still non-existent, even worse than just plain glass. I had to remove it because it's so hard to write on a surface with zero friction.

The only "protector" that gives a real feel of friction is ArmorSuit. Unlike most protectors, it is highly malleable and it literally leaves a dent if you press too hard, like a real paper but bounces back eventually to original shape. I feel friction when I write on it. The disadvantage is the installation which is difficult to align given its malleability making it hard to "align" correctly and leaving a lot of bubbles.

Rock Paper Pencil is definitely not the one if you want "friction."

  • Apple Vision Pro customers face a 25-minute in-store sales pitch

I think it's reasonable at that stage. I don't want people to buy it and return it in thirty days.

It's an expensive computer and should be taken seriously. If you're patient and go through 25 minutes learning how to take full advantage of Apple Vision Pro, then you'will get it and know your money's being spent for a good reason.

Way too many people buy on impulse.

Also, Apple Vision Pro will serve as a template for the future of spatial computing.

It's possible that Apple and MS are in talks to make a room for spatial computing. After all, remember how MS brought Word to Mac?

  • Apple insists 8GB unified memory equals 16GB regular RAM

Also, an interesting note that no one seems to mention is that when Apple was marketing how their MacBook Air M2 is faster than Intel laptops... if you look at how they conducted their tests ... they literally compared the baseline Macs with 8GB with 256GB SSD against PCs with 16GB RAM with 512GB SSD!

"Testing was conducted by Apple in April and May 2023 using production 13-inch MacBook Air systems with Apple M2, 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB SSD, preproduction 15-inch MacBook Air systems with Apple M2, 8-core CPU, 10-core GPU, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB SSD as well as Intel Core i7-based PC systems with Intel Iris Xe Graphics, 16GB of RAM, 512GB SSD, and the latest version of Windows 11 available at the time of testing." https://www.apple.com/macbook-air-13-and-15-m2/#footnote-6

  • Apple promises 'scary fast' Mac announcement the night of October 30

If they go for iMac with M3, it's obviously "scary fast" since it is essentially a 30% increase from M1 but not necessarily "scary fast" like the current M2 mac studios.

  • Next 12.9-inch iPad Pro will be downgrade, says extremely unlikely report

Well, it's possible, I mean, look at 3rd Gen Pencil - a total downgrade of 2nd Gen. No gesture support. No magnetic attachment. No pressure. No wireless charging.
