The speculation was the "Duo" (now formally called the Ultra) would be two M1 Max Chips in tandem. It stands to reason that the "Quad" that has been speculated will be in the Mac Pro.  The only question is which superlative are they are they going to use: "Ultra Ultra"?  "Super-duper"?  "Hyper"?

Probably but also it’s probably more difficult with COVID to design , engineer and manufacture ever thing so redesigning this is lower in the list than finishing the Transition to M series chips.   They probably have enough thermal headroom that drop in upgrades will be easier for them in the future.

I heard Amazon is offering $3,000 bonuses.   Probably better to go there.   Probably will get treated better.   Apple will leak and blame it on Angela A.

By adding MagSafe,HDMI, and the card reader back Apple insured success because many like I have held out upgrading.
