  • Apple Park boosting local economy with property boom, influx of shoppers

I would also note that if the handful of Apple employees I know - none live in Cupertino - most either San Jose or San Francisco. Cupertino is a boring, family oriented suburb. The appeal of living there among those here is the schools, which are some of the best in the country.

  • Apple's W1-equipped wireless BeatsX headphones ship Feb. 10

Wait, so these things are charged with a lightning cable, but the PowerBeats3 uses mini-USB?

    What's that about?
the latter two are legacy products, whereas Beats X are newly designed. This maybe relevant to their design choices.

  • What history teaches about Apple's windows of opportunity for 2017

This rant about why Apple selling a lot of phones should make Mac users happy... well... no. Selling phones is not going to improve the focus, features, or quality of macOS or the computers we use as our main tool for work. It is even worse than demanding for Newton users to be happy about the success Apple had after abandoning their platform.

Looking forward we should expect to see the App Store being unlocked by legislation. It will allow for Google to jump in and offer developers a shared app space for Android + iOS making it free for users to swap platforms like on Steam.

Will Apple stay on the current path by keeping the cold Metal-Thin design language from 2001? By removing every little touch of humanism from macOS? By having a CEO that is using every chance to break his own record for most frequent use of "thrilled" and "profound" in a keynote? And will we still care?
Unlock AppStore with legislation? Not sure what you're referring to here but that would be an unprecedented overreach of gov't and incredibly anti-business - both of which unlikely under a Republican administration or middle of the ground Democratic one (like we've had since '92). I think what you're referring to is ant-trust. Problem is Apple isn't the largest player by market share in mobile - that belongs to Android. Apple is just more profitable which is more to do with hardware sales and the quality of apps on their platform. Also AppStore is already relatively open. Developers are free to develop apps for iOS as they are for Android, and most major app developers (Google included) already do this. Anyone using Google Apps on iOS can easily switch to the same app on Android. If anything it is harder to develop apps for Android given the number of active versions.

  • Rumor: Apple to release iOS 10.3 beta with 'Theater mode' in January

A highly questionable rumor on Friday claims Apple is preparing the first beta release of iOS 10.3, thought by some to be an iPad-centric update, in early January with a new device mode called "Theater."

Without citing a source, avid Apple hardware leaker Sonny Dickson in a pair of tweets on Friday said the upcoming beta's so-called Theater mode will be accessible via a "popcorn-shaped" icon in Control Center.

Gotta love this... So some unknown shlep sends out some anonymous Tweets, doesn't cite a source of any kind to backup his claims, and news sites begin picking it up and re-distributing it on mass, as if it's a real news piece???

And I don't care if you say Ai cites it in the story or not, this should NEVER even be published, unless a source of the claim can be ascertained, and the claim at least traced back to the original source. This is just another Tweeting bozo looking for 5 minutes of fame by spreading fake news, which, I'm sure most Millennial's, will fall for.

Sonny Dickson is hardly some unknown schlep. He's fairly known as a blogger who leaks upcoming Apple mobile hardware, usually with actual pieces or operating devices.

  • Long-distance wireless charging firm Energous partners with Apple supplier Dialog

Matt Margolis for a long time claimed that Apple would release an iPhone with sapphire display, and a bull for said underlying stock - the name of the vendor escapes me now. Anyways he was an advocate for the stock weeks after the iPhone 6 release which by his claims was supposed include sapphire. Long story short that company went bankrupt shortly thereafter, costing investors $.90 on the dollar. My point is, be skeptical. His track record is suspect.
