Screenshots from latest Leopard build appear on flickr

A series of screen captures portraying features added to the last development builds of Apple Inc's forthcoming Leopard operating system have cropped up on a popular image sharing website.

Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard build 9A343, which was released to developers late last week, added a subtle array of features such as tab support in the Terminal and five new screensavers based on the Core Animation graphics library.

Some screenshots from the build have recently been posted to the Flickr image sharing websites. Links follow:

New "Retro" screensaver

New "Arabesque" screensaver

New "Security" screensaver

New "Word of the Day" screensaver

"Media" favorite in Leopard Open/Save dialog windows

Redesigned Bluetooth system preferences

New Tab command in Terminal

Terminal Tab interface

"Show Tab bar" menu item in Terminal

Updated Parental Controls system preference pane

Remote Setup in Parental Controls preference pan

Tabbed terminal is cool I guess...

What I want to see is any of the advanced features.

I'm no square but isn't that counter-indicated by my operations manual?

Yes, to me these screenshots are worthless. Where's the beef?

Wow, 'security' screensaver is the killer. No wonder the shares are up!

And 'word of the day' is such a rip off BeOS 'message' screensaver (http://dsandler.org/soft/macosx/beos-savers.php), unless BeOS devs have ripped it from someone else of course.

I guess that doesn't really matter at this point...does it?

Aren't there a few former BeOS people at Apple (who were originally from Apple to begin with)?

Terminal tabs...

...simple and powerful.
why didn't we all think of that sooner!

os-wide media access is going to be very, very nice.
it might even make office worth using again.

A few I don't know, but most certainly one (I forget his name). It is supposedly the guy behind journaling in OS X.

That was really freaky.
I didn't see your reply and we both had the exact same response formatted the same way to the same link.

I guess great minds think alike.

Whoa. Freaky indeed! I was certain the forum software had screwed up when I saw "my" response under your name.

Cheers.

William Bull http://www.linkedin.com/pub/0/188/354, although he quit Be earlier than most.
Speaking of Bill, this page raises some concerns - according to it he's been working since June 2006 at "new" iPod devision at Apple. But there haven't really been any significantly *new* iPods, there was a phone however. Makes one wonder. He's actually pretty good at both UI and embedded stuff and industrial design...

Yeah, we want the beef. This is junk. Terminal tabs are good but iterm has tabs.

Kickaha is at some developer thing today. He'll bring back the beef or at least whatever meat is not held under NDA.

What does this mean for the prospect of a new, redesigned UI? As far as I can tell, there's no real change in the look-n-feel of the thing...

Is it just me or is the "Security" screen saver nothing but a black screen?

Backdated to late 2006 and shoved deep in a Cupertino basement where the Leopard final development is being done (and where the developers, designers, etc. are locked up tighter than a Western reporter in a Chinese prison).

You didn't miss much. A few screen savers, a tabbed terminal window, parental control prefs, and an open/save dialogue box with media specific drop down menu. All in bone stock Aqua.

Screen shots are gone! :-(

I guess Apple saw that those screen shots were up, and ordered them down. I never got a chance to see them!
