Nothing about the freezing issue
Don't see anything about the freezing issue seen here. If anyone with the freezing issue applies this and it resolves the problem PLZ let me know. Waiting for that one to be fixed before dropping my $$.
Thanks. Last edited by polar315; 11-15-2007 at 02:02 PM.. Reason: spelling error |

The stand-alone DMG file you can download from Apple's website really is 109 MB. It probably contains all the updates relevant to every hardware configuration.
The 39 MB download you got from Software Update probably pares the download down to only include updates for the hardware and optional software components that are actually present on your particular machine. |

Great! I'm finally able to connect to my WPA2-Network (again).
Plus: Time Machine now calculates correct sizes when excluding folders... Keep ipfw running... Gotta build trust in the fancy new firewall |

Someone over at TUAW posted a link to a PDF list of the contents in the update. I'll link it here.
I was looking through the list and on page 12, there is a chunk of file updates to ATI drivers. Not sure if these are the same drivers for the ATI cards in the iMacs that are locking up, but if they are, I am waiting to hear word on whether this in fact might fix the freezing issue. I upgraded to Leopard then retro-graded back to Tiger because of the freezes. UPDATE: Just looked more at the pdf and the ATI driver updates stretch from page 12 to page 19! I am holding a glimmer of hope that they've fixed the freezing issue with this. |

Folder views
I was hoping that individual folder views would now stick correctly, but they still don't...

Back from 10.5.1 update and so far so good.
Although I thought the same thing on my Mac Pro with the 10.4.11 update which hosed my Weather and Stocks widgets. More on that drama in another thread but one more reason to upgrade it to Leop! (Damn you production boxes!)

x11
I was hoping to see updates to x11, restoring the same functionality as Tiger's x11. Does anyone have insight on the matter?

Over at the MacRumors forum some people are claiming that there is another update for iMacs. I am not sure if it appears only after installing 10.5.1, but you might want to hop over there and ask.

I noticed that when I ran repair permissions, I got a lot of errors that have been reported by other users on Apple's forums.
Anybody else see them? http://discussions.apple.com/thread....41488&tstart=0 |

This seems to be a complex issue. apple has released more than one update for this. Try looking here for more info: http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/ But, now there is a claim that it may be a hardware issue. |

I just noticed the iTunes UI is now consistent with Leopard (the faded border when it's inactive). I hadn't updated to 7.5 until just now so I'm not sure if that came in 7.5 or if that came with the 10.5.1 update. Anyone know?

I just walked one of my friends through the updating process, and had him check for another update after that (he's got one of the new iMacs) and he said there are no more updates, just the Mac OS X 10.5.1 update.
What I mean is, there are no other updates for the iMacs that have to do with the freezing.

Apple have also released a patch for the ATI card in the new iMac: "Updates the graphics firmware on the ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro to improve system stability."

When you say "we", who do you mean, because Apples support pages suggest that you DON'T unless you are experiencing difficulty.

You know — every once in a while I'd like to hear, instead of all the whining and complaining (less here than on Mac Rumours, I must say) someone give out a sincere, heartfelt thanks to all the software programmers who must have been working incredibly long hours to get all these updates out the door so quickly.
Thanks guys, you've done an incredible job.

The issue with the database.sqlite3 files appearing in the Trash seems to still be an issue.

Freezing with old iMacs??
I installed the update and it seemed to be working fine. I went and watched TV, and when i came back, i woke it up, and it was frozen! The weird thing is that i don't have an aluminum iMac, its one of the white ones! This never happened before, only now after the update. Also, try putting iTunes into the mini mode were it stays on top of all the windows, and go into time machine. It stays on top in tm.
