Very cool. No mention of fixes like 'menu bar actually changes to match current application' or 'iTunes dashboard widget finally actually works', but graphics enhancements sound promising. I'm downloading, and may just do a permissions repair before installing ... you know, to get people talking about it .

Wonder if there is support for the upcoming MacBooks built in, too . . .

I bet someone could find that . . .

I too will most likely wait for the non software update version to come out. By the way, even though my Safari browser has enabled blocking of pop-up windows, I still get them from this AppleInsider site. Does anyone else, and how do I eliminate their pop-ups?

The pop-up blocker does not block pop-ups the user requested. So ones that are attached to links might still get though, and if that is the case (and I am not sure if it is) AI intentionally attached em to links.

Hmmmm,

I wonder if at long last they have Permissions Repair actually fixed so that you don't have to wait around for the time it takes to prepare a four course dinner, eat it, and still have room for Dolphin on Toast.

Anybody?

I thought Apple just pushed this fix about a week or two ago. Is this another, new fix for the same Air problem?

I sure hope so cause I downloaded the first fix and although it helped (went from being able to watch 20 min of video before sporadic freezing to about 40 min before sporadic freezing) it still didn't fix the problem completely.

FYI, for a PowerBook G4 currently running 10.5.4, the update is only 136 MB.

The size of the update depends on what you've already installed on your system. (And, just for the record, the update was also only 136MB on my Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro)

iMac 2.8GHz (Core 2 Extreme, 4GB RAM, 750GB HD, Bootcamp'ed w/XP)
MacBook Pro 2.33GHz (Core 2 Duo, 3GB RAM, 160GB HD)
Mac mini 1.67GHz (Core Duo, 1GB RAM, 120GB HD, Fedora)
Time Capsule 1TB
iPhone 3GS 32GB, iPhone 2.5G 8GB

And the reason it didn't mention things like that being fixed is because they STILL aren't . 11 months in and I still have more issues with Leopard than I have had with any OS X since 10.1, at release. Far out!

Everything seems to run just a little bit smoother as it did before, but I find it hard to tell the difference.

Safari still does reach 74% on the acid3 test, and the colours in my iPhone calender are still not the same I use in iCal to name a few things I would like to see.

Come on apple, you fixed the things you should have fixed two months ago (10.5.1 should have been the first 10.5 release, and 2.0.2 / 2.1 should have been the first iPhone 3G). I realy almost lost my pride in the quality of apple.

But at this improvement pace I hope to receive some functionality upgrade within a few months.
Safari 4.0, push notification, iTunes 8.1.

I don't recall Apple has ever releasing an updated browser with a point update.

Safari 4.0 Beta you can get via Apple's developer site for free. It's quite stable.

iTunes 8.1, already? v8 was released less than a week ago and it seem quote good so far. if anything 8.0.1 would be for any minor bug fixes.

Well, now it reminds me that it happened several times to me. I set my iMac to sleep before I went to bed and found out that it was somehow power on in midnight. I would definitely freak out if I witnessed it. I hope the update does fix this.

improves Mail robustness when sending messages

What does this mean? Did we get new mail features?

Photo attachments in Mail have always been a pain (maybe I'm just a novice). I want to send photo as an attachments without having to archive them and they always get embedded in the email.

However, has anyone else had these occasional problems with flash cs3 (The problem has happened since 10.5.4 for me, but the update did not appear to fix them):

Use the version from here:

http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/wiki

I had a problem with X11 not working after I installed a 10.5 combo upgrade, and after installing the latest version from that site, it works fine. Apple essentially follows the versions released there in their official releases (just lags behind a lot).

It already happened to you in 10.5.5? I've seen it (the problem with the menu bar not "following" when one switch app), but it usually takes some time after a restart (at least that's the feeling I have).

But to my knowledge, the opengl linking bug is still broken when using Darwine/wine.

ARD 3 won't launch

Hmmm....

10.5.5. Install went fine, and Spotlight is currently re-indexing, but at the moment, ARD 3.0 Admin won't launch, giving me an error that says the software may not be installed correctly...

After spotlight is done, I'll repair permissions and reboot, but an early warning if you rely on ARD that something may be fishy...

I happens every single time I click a new mail desktop alert from Entourage, so it's pretty easy to test. Other occurrences seem more random, so there could be some blame on MS's side, but still....

Adobe says InDesign problems are Apple's Fault

I haven't installed 10.5.5 yet but I was really hoping this would fix the InDesign hiding bugs (that is will not Hide as well as the bigger problem of it hiding and not UNhiding).

Adobe says that it's Apple's fault and are working with them to fix the issues. I don't know who's fault it is but I'd sure like to see this fixed. I would be inclined to agree that this is an Apple issue since it happens with other apps (although not as much as InDesign) and for me the issue NEVER happened before 10.5. Since it only happens in 10.5 that leads me to think it's Apple, not Adobe. Adobe has also said that InDesign's core architecture is different than most programs and that is why it happens more in that program than others.

Here's to hoping Apple (or Adobe) fix this thing fast. It's a major issue and causes work to be lost!

Aluminum iMac (August 2007) Slowdown

Hey folks,

Just wanted to add the data.

My Aluminum iMac rebooted, and then rebooted again automatically mid-start-up. I am assuming that is not a good sign.

Once everything was up and running, everything appears to be running slower.

Suggestions?
