6 month old 15" iMac won't power up !

My friend was playing itunes on her iMac while using a hairdryer, in the adjacent bathroom. Apparently she tripped a breaker because the wall outlet that her powerbar was plugged into, (which all perperiphials and her iMac, were attached to), and her bathroom outlet were on the same circuit. Everything shut down until she flicked the breaker switch back on . Everything else started up , printer and scanner, but not her iMac. No problem she thought and pressed the iMac power button. Nothing happened. She has tried everything. It is still under warranty and the vendor, 2 hours away, has said bring it down and they will fix it. Apple's help line talked her through opening the bottom and hitting the reset button, to no avail. Any easy answers?

Plug the iMac into the bathroom outlet. Plug the hairdryer into the iMac's outlet. See what works. At least you can narrow the power issues that way.

Does your friend have it on a surge protector? Sounds like she might have messed up the power supply, but it could be any number of things. Tell your friend to find herself a free day, because she is gonna have to take her iMac to that retailer to get it fixed up...that is the answer, there is no easy one.
