Saw Cameron Diaz today...

At Barnes & Noble. They are shooting a new film "In Her Shoes" here. Shirley Maclaine stars too.

She's really is a sweet looking lady. Not as tall as I thought she'd be (ex-supermodel and all). She was casually dressed, a little disheveled (we had some bad rainstorms last two days). But that voice, that sweet voice...had a bodyguard. But here in Philly we seem not to get insane when celebrities wander by...

She bought some books. Oxford Dictionary, Periodic Table book(?), "The Color of Water", "Philosophy for Dummies" and get this one...a Self-Help book on overcoming the fear of being stared at. Uh babe, I know the solution to this...get outta show business.

She also browsed the New Age and Art sections. Overall a beautiful (er, average...I mean she's like most other pretties that come into the store...she's just "famous") young lady, polite and that voice and big smile that just melts you...

Why would she be afraid?

I mean it's not like people watch her every move, memorize what books she buys, and then posts that knowledge on the internet...

She is a celebrity. But she's also human, not an alien from another planet. She'll have to deal with this. I'm happy that she's gotten a book that may help (I'd think though that with a snap of her fingers she'd have every therapist in L.A. trampling each other to help her). Also, I was very complimentary in my statements above. I wasn't stalking her. I work as a cashier and I had the fortunate situation of ringing her up when she returned downstairs. What we said between each other during that transaction was a normal, brief and polite conversation.

And personal. Not gonna post that, so there...8)

Just thought that any fans of hers here (I'm one now) would be interested.

She is certifiably hot, though I think she's just an ex-model, not an ex-supermodel. That title entails getting your lower rib removed and severe anorexia.

Anyway, some people tell me they don't think Cam Diaz is hot. To them, I say, "you guys are homos." Aside from the fact that she has a pretty face and bod, she moves well. Maybe not in real life, but since i've never seen her in person I'll just have to go by the movies she's in. And since she has chalked up a long resume of silly comedies, I've seen a lot of those movies.

If the rest of you hold him down, I'll apply this handy pair of pliers to his toe nails. We can get it out of him if we work together.

(Anybody got some sodium pentothal handy?)

Ok. I'm a guy who does look at the butt on the way out...when she left...it, er, she moved well. Justine...you lucky ****in' bastard you...

Believe me, the conversation was just that, a brief conversation (remember...sneering bodyguard with her)...still, when she smiled and said "Thank you, Art!"...

I just named her my #2 hottest actress in a stupid magazine poll at work today-I'm so jealous, Artman!

I know I would have been a deer in the headlights waiting on her, though. I get tongue-tied by some "regular" hotties I see.

Sad and dorky but true!

Don't tell me your #1 is some cheery brunette girl who's in foreign films.

If that's the case, I'm going to go into a corner and die. WAY too many easily intimidated guys here on AI.

The only celeb I've ever bumped into was Carmen Electra when she was shopping at a store outside Cincinnati. She was dressed down in just jeans, t-shirt and baseball cap, but looked super hot.

I didn't even know she was there until I was looking for some stuff for my girlfriend and she needed to get by me and said "excuse me." I of course said "holy shit!" and she smiled and I said "sorry about that." She laughed, told me she'd heard much worse and moved on. And that was the end of it.

No, #1 was Angelina Jolie. I don't feel bad about being intimidated by her, though.

Ah, this makes me remember when I worked at a Mom & Pop Apple Specialist in the late 90's and the most gorgeous girl carrying a PowerBook I ever saw came in and bought a few things and I rang her up. She had a pre-Wallstreet G3, in a 3400 form factor... ah, her form factor...mmmmmmm

I can generally handle conversing normally with the "regular" hotties I do business with, but I made about 7 round trips from the cash register, to the credit card terminal, to the hottie in front of me... my brain was seriously dis-cum-BOOB-u-lated. Yeah, she was dressed the part, in case you were wondering. Crop-top and short-shorts, all several sizes too small.

After she left, a co-worker informed me that she was a former Playmate of the Month... good thing I didn't know it at the time or I'm sure I would have been even more spastic....

Four celebs:

1) I met Jacque Cousteau when I was six.

2) I played an afternoon of basketball with Jack Sikma when I was 12.

3) I was in the Denver airport flying from Seattle to NC with my cat, and I'd let her peep her head out of her carrying case. This little girl walks up, her mom behind me, and says "Can I pet your kitty?" "Sure." She pets my cat, and then her mother says in this British accent "Come along, love, we've a plane to catch.", thanks me for letting her daughter pet my cat, and gives her a quick pat herself. I never look up. The person next to me starts laughing and says "Dude! That was Tracy Ullman!" Yup.

4) Similar trip, but layover in La Guardia. Sitting waiting for our connection, the incoming plane disembarks. First class folks getting off the jet from Jamaica. Two young women get off... "Cute..." an older woman, probably their mother "Wow..." and then the guy. It's David Hasselhoff and his family. I was *six inches* from Michael Knight, man!

That's like saying "I was 6 inches from the devil himself." When he got off the plane was he doing the whole slo-mo run thing?

Cameron Diaz is around Philly? Time to go downtown... As if there aren't enough hotties running through the dowtown B&N.... <fans self>

I met Tupac Shakur while walking through the Village in NYC. I was looking in a window when my firend started jumping up and down and dragged me over to these white BMWs. Out steps Tupac where he sits and blocks traffic for 5 minutes signing autographs. he was actually really cool about it too. I never liked his music much, but he was a nice guy.

Take this seriously, but don't take the serious, seriously.

Jeeeez, don't get me going about all the other celebs that have browsed through B&N from other employees. Bruce Willis, Mel Gibson, Oprah Winfry, M. Knight Shamalon...they'll go gushing on forever...

As long as I've been there I have seen/met:

1. Hillary Swank...honestly an incredible natural beauty.
2. Govenor Rendell...HUGE mo fo' wouldn't want to mess with him.
3. Pete Rose @ his book signing...slob.
4. & Cameron Diaz...talked to her though...sweet.

Oh, and I completely forgot...Larry Bowa came in that morning to sign his book...24 people showed up (compared to that with Rose...700 people)...so not that great I guess (he's the manager of the Phillies, right?)

I hope that Shirley Maclaine will stop in...

As far as my other "brushes with greatness":

Joey Ramone, partied with the original Chilli Peppers, Wendy Orlean Williams, Iggy Pop, Ozzie, Southern Culture on the Skids, Henry Rollins, partied with Ministry...more but others were a little hazy...
