Apple + Google Vs Microsoft + Yahoo

With Microsoft eying off Yahoo, does anyone think there would any merit in Google & Apple having an alliance to ward off the MSYH coupling?

Or what about Apple even buying Google ?

Anyone heard any rumors to this effect...?

I would posit that Apple and Googles relationship would become much closer should Microsoft and Yahoo become one.

Google and Apple would never merge but an alliance would be likely. Both would benefit from sharing resources...and enemies.

Google provides the content and Apple the hardware and software to use it.

Google tries to connect all its different data sources (search, maps, videos, advertisment) and let it interact. Search for Eiffel Tower, get a Map, a youtube video of the tower and tons of advertisment of nearby restaurants.

Apple could provide the necessary hardware. iPhone is just the beginning.

I think Google and Apple have a similiar view of the computing world or Digital Lifestyle. they focus on data (Google) and the user (Apple). The computer/device itself is not *that* important, it's just a tool. They could provide entire new ways how we handle data.

A collaboration between Apple and Google could render M$ almost irrelevant, since there is no need to use Windows with all its drawbacks. Even the concept of a PC might be outdated sooner than we think.

The iPhone and AppleTV show the direction: the Mac becomes a device to access and manipulate any data you can think of, any place, anytime.
