Prepare to hurl.

Just when you thought George Lucas might pull his head out of his ass and do the next Star Wars movie right...I got this (forwarded) email from a friend of mine who is an utter SW junky and knows all the inside scoopage.

"At last, someone has stepped in to replace Jar Jar Binks as the target of derision from Star Wars fans the world over.

Brace yourselves: The boys of 'N'Sync' will have a cameo in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode II--Attack of the Clones . A Lucasfilm spokeswoman confirmed what Star Wars fan sites had been buzzing about for days, saying the fivesome will appear briefly in a "big scene."

The loser just lost my patronage. I'm officially saving my $8 to go see the second installment of Lord of the Rings. What a marketing jag-off Lucas has become. It's not about storylines anymore, it's about doing what his little kid thinks would be "cool" and ensuring more action figures will be sold.

There's a huge arena scene towards the end of the movie where hundreds of Jedi enter to save their friends (anakin and obi wan).

The Jedi are attacked by battle droids and many many Jedi die. This scene involves a lot of extras. A few of the guys from N'sync will be in the background of this scene and they will immediately be killed.

I don't think this is nearly as bad as everyone is making it out to be. You won't even recognize them.

Sophia Coppola was in the Phantom Menace as an extra and no one noticed.

Besides, I think seeing N'Sync blasted to bits in a movie would be a plus.

How in the world will they fit them in? Are they going to be dressed up like Ewoks? Are they going to be the musical entertainment for the Jedi council?

Now if only someone would use real blasters for more realism.

A definite silver-lining perhaps...but still it's the principle of the thing that makes me want to spew corn flakes (had a late breakfast). I mean, what's the point? Is George trying to be a swell guy so the NStync chumps can boost their already stratospheric egos by telling E-tainment Live! that "yeah, we were on the set. we're bad." WTF?!

This is just wrong. Obviously a ploy to get more kiddies (girls specifically since it was apparently Lucas' daughters who are the big fans) to go to the movie. As if Star Wars needed to be promoted in any way shape or form. They need more brand recognition like Coke and Sony need more brand recognition.

I agree, its really lame. Its also not very fair. Why do those < insert degrading remark here > get to be in Star Wars?! I want to be in Star Wars!!

< / end whining baby rant >

Yes, I'm a star wars nerd.

If you want more info, check out this site:

They won't have any lines and won't even be listed as extras in the credits.

Yep. I just hurled.

Thanks for the warning though.

I'll think I'll save my money too. Granted, it's not like they have starring roles, but it's the principle. A Star Wars movie should not be a vehicle for the likes of nsync's egos.

Lucas has unofficially tarnished his his rep. My Goodness this guy has gone from Movie God to Movie Goober. I back up the sentiments that this is just not good on Principal. Besides even if it's in a backup scene Nsync just took jobs from some other actors possibly. I'm tired of seeing Musicians/Rappers that want to bludgeon me with horrible acting and Actors/Actresses bludgeoning me with their horrible singing. People please...pick your best discipline and stick with it.

As for Lucas....he better hope that AotC(crappy name!) doesn't get demolished by the next Matrix and LotR movies. Any the SW Fanboys are hyping the next movies and from what I've seen and heard Hayden Christiansen doesn't have the chops to carry anything in this flick. He's going to get lambasted just like the Lloyd boy. This is going to be brutal.

Yes, Lucas is sailing into the uncharted waters with this one. Who's next to appear, Shrek in a star-fighter? I say we send some death-threats to N'Sync...let em know those of us who appreciate the original trilogy won't stand for this kind of Hollywood whore-mongering.

Moogs we might as well let Lucas dig his own grave. I haven't been happy with any SW movie since the Empire. I'm afraid modern filmaking has passed Mr Lucas...he crafts a great scene but the rest of the movies will suck.

You make a good point. The last movie was very definitely more about scenery than anything else. That and stupid sound-bites.

You mentioned the Matrix' sequel. When is that supposed to come out? Have any details been released? I'm psyched for that one, but am frankly expecting to be let down. The first one was such an original concept I'm not sure how they can continue the story without being predictable or cliche.

[quote]Question:

Will there be a scene in the sequel where Neo and Agent Smith are on top of a building, and it's night time, and they fight and then jump off the side, and they're fighting each other all the way down, Neo going like "BAMBAMBAMBAM" with two guns at once, and the bullets like streak off into the night as they miss, and then they smash into a glass skylight of a huge fancy restaurant, and they fall to the ground in a shower of glass, and Neo gets up and grabs a flamethrower off one of the waiters and he engulfs Agent Smith in flames and says "I'd like to propose a toast!" because you know, he's toasting him.

Yes, there are four of those scenes in the film.

It probably depends on when you actually saw it. I remember having Showtime in the early 80's and watching it again and again. At the time it ruled! Compared to stuff out now, it's not that impressive. The story isn't that amazing. Good versus Bad.

Think about The Matrix. The first time it was out in theaters the special effects were amazing. Think of how many movies, tv shows, commericals have used Matrix style fighting, bullets flying..etc... If I watch the Matrix now it doesn't seem so cutting edge with the special effects. Good thing it has a solid story.

I was born in the 70s, I think thats why I like Star Wars so much.
For all of you that either:
a. hate it
b. haven't seen it, or don't care to
c. don't care either way

I'm betting you were all born in the 80s.
I'm not putting anyone down or anything, its just a culture thing I think.

I think 90% of my generation grew up with it and loved it. That other 10% got sucked into Cabbage Patch Kids instead.

Yeah, Howard the Duck was his best work.

Actually I think he only produced it, but either way it was a gem.

My cousin had one of these things, and I can't even remember how many time we beat him because of it.

Yet another reason why Star Trek is better than Star Wars.

When Star Trek wants to get celebrity cameos, they get Stephen Hawking.

While Star Wars Gets N'Sync.

That pretty much ends the debate once and for all for me.

*Grin* Nope! We want even more Trek!

For another Star Trek vs. Star Wars cameo appearance comparison:

Star Trek enlisted NASA astronaut Dr. Mae Jamison:

http://www.macworld.com/2001/08/buzz/images/maejemison.jpg

Star Wars goes for Sofia Coppola, pretty much a nobody if it wasn't for her daddy.

Doh!!
