Can someone email me the DivX program?

I had a little brother problem recently. He decided that it would be fun to watch the strange color patterns on my iMac's screen when he brought my neodymidium magnets nearby. He tried putting it right next the screen, and my HD was erased. Or seriously funked up. In any case, my backup HD is three feet away, and was also damaged.

Grr. Now I am reinstalling all that I have on CD. Luckily, I stored all my shareware passwords and a coupole installers on my iDisk. So it's not an impossible situation. I do hafve to rerip all my MP3s, but I was planning to do that anywat. I had a collection of 5 gigs of Soundjam 128 kpbs files, and I've been meaning to rip them at 160 in iTunes anyway.

But, something I did not back up on my iDisk and am having real trouble finding on Carracho:

Could someone please email me the DivX Player and Windows Media Player 6.3? You will earn my undying gratitude. Can't give you any porn though, that was lost with the rest of my HD.

I assume you brought this up because of the I laughed thread, correct? Well, if you download my converted version, you don't need the Divx & WiMP "combo kit". Simply use the 3ivx codec (works in OS9 and OSX). I even posted links to download the codec off my server.

As for DivX and WiMP, I can't help you because I use OSX and the Avi2Mov tool with the qtffmpeg.component.

Anyway, geez, how old is your little brother?? I'd kill the ****er (or at least take 'em out back and apply a good ass-whoopin') if he's a teenager just making mischief. Wow. Sorry about that damage, man.

Hokey dokey. I'm transitioning over to OS X now anyway, might as well learn to use the new software.

Trying it....

Hmm. Avi2Mov is crashy. And it seems to halt halfway through its translation with an error beep, leaving an unfinished sound file.

I remember with DivX Player that many poorly-encoded files from porn sites had to be run through the "DivX Doctor," an option under one of the menus that did something to repair the movie file. I don't know what it did, but DivX Doctored .avi files always played correctly.

Are there any other options that I can followe? It's cool that I can see the video on these with the codec, but annoying that I can't hear anything.

The DivX team says apple is going to fix the AVI bug in the next version of quicktime which should be released at the Quicktime developers conference next month.

divx has been alpha since its release years ago. Nothing scary about it.

But <practically weeping with fear of erasng his hard drive> unfinished computer products are DANGEROUS!

Silly me. Microsoft's non-Office products are just as dangerous to use, and what's more, they are open to attak from external sources as well as the user.

Anyewhoo, I dunno how to apply this DivX codec. Where do I put it? Is it an Installer, so that I just open the Installer and the program does the moving for me?
