love and xxx's

I recently received an electronic mail frae The Antipodes. It was groovy and had red letters in places. This was exciting, but lo and behold - efter the signature (a lady's I should emphasize) there were but only twa 'xx's. Now I am perticulrly lavish wi' my textual kisses, but here in Scotland even the maist mean skinflint widnae dream o' sending less then 3. Maybe this is a cultural thing, but I wid urge citizen's o' other countries always tae sign off wi' no less the six or seven 'x's. This can only accelerate the process o' global peace and understanding. Let your love flow like ink frae a pen!

Once again, a nearly incomprehensible post from Mac O' the Isles. At least it's funny.

I clicked on the topic thinking it would be a funny accord of modern society on the theme of "love and porn." And the thing is, Mac o' the Isles could actually make that interesting!

Once again the Mac reminds us that we take our selves far too seriously

i find geekboy speak a lot harder to read than Mac'o's prose. But maybe that's just me getting old.

There we are: Poor Tailor and I are baith getting auld. In oor day; cdhostage; there wasnae any porn because everything was in black & white and if a wummin sae much as showed her ankle we immediately dampened the fires o' passion by throwing ootsel's intae the cauld Atlantic swell for the best part o' a week. And if we even suspected the travelling Magic Lantern man o' having a passionate glass photographic slide in his tent we wid lock him in the kirk cellar wi' bread, water and brimstone toll he repented.

"textual kisses"

I've created (nurtured maybe) a monster.
As much as I love certain people, especially you Sir Mac o' the Isles (You made the New Year(s) Hono(u)rs List this year?), I myself only ever proffer one textual kiss. Surely more should be considered promiscuous, or at the very least inappropriate of a young lady of good upbringing?

Belle - Ye are correct, but there are 'x's and there are 'x's. I trust ye will no' be offended if I send a specially long line o' the maist well intentioned and morally appropriate 'x's jist for you.

Sir, I can only say I'm glad my governess reviews all communications before I review them with my own eyes. I can but imagine what lurid suggestions were made in your last communication that made my governess turn such a color and gasp in that most unladylike manner.

Really! There are virgin eyes around here Mac!

But since we've gotten ourselves into such a pickle already, I wonder if Americans are being deprived here. After all if one is without a significant other, their only kisses come from great aunts and grandmothers, and maybe the occasional peck from mom.

Maybe up north one will see female friends (or movie stars) greet eachother with a kiss, but not down here! And us poor men...never on the receiving end of a welcoming peck! Is the idea of europeans walking all about the countryside kissing everyone in sight just a hollywood myth? Or am I missing out on a world of casual smooches here?

Belle! Och the power o' love in even its maist minimal guises. Tae think that a string o' 'x's should evoke sae much passion. Apoplectic dismay in the stony heart o' governesses and fiery passion in the tender soul o' young maidens. This is obviously a force tae be used wi' discretion. Maybe 'the 'x's could be colour-coded in future: blue for formal and fiery red for the other, wi' an appropriate pantone range in between.

Mr Tailor! Worry not for I too hae suffered a paucity o' spontaneous affection. A chill peck on the cheek frae a brittle maiden aunt is but a blast o' winter breath compared tae the warm, strawberry smooch o' a groovy chick. I havnae been the recipient o' many feminine wiles or conflagrations o' untamed passion on a train for many a long year and on the odd occasion when it did happen it took me that long tae realise what was happening that the moment had invariably passed. However there are some remedies for this apparently hopeless situation. Firstly wealth and power, although if you are as financially discomfited as your name suggests this may no' be an option (although I lay claim tae the title o' maist potentially destitute AI member ever) . Ye should therefore lure the object o' your desire wi' some romance. Put on yer tight black jeans, leather jaiket, white t-shirt and slick back that hair intae a quiff wi' a comb kept in yer back pocket. Tak' the lady o' your desires tae a drive-in movie in one o' those big automobiles that begins wi' a 'C' and she will fall intae your arms. I have seen this on American satellite tv programs many times so I consider mysel' something o' an expert.

Compare this to the tone of the kiddie-porn thread.

A rose is a rose... ~%~@

Hey, does anyone know how long one should greet people with a Happy New Year? What if you see a friend in July you haven't seen since last year...do they deserve a "Happy New Year"?

Mac is the man!
We really need to go through and archive his posts in order to teach out children what role playing is (a lost art 'tis).

Makes me miss an old Scottish friend of our who recently passed away form lung cancer, talked just like ya mac.

As for the issues of X's and O'x.. well whatever, its all good

Ahh Mac o'! I was all ready to go have my passport photo taken and drop school to spend my time touring the european countryside in search of some casual smooching. Once again, my dreams are dashed against the harsh rock of reality. Ahh!

While potentially the most destitute, I have a diffcult time believing our own resident knight would have trouble with the ladies. Methinks you are too humble!

Hmm wealth and power. Well, I've got a student loan and a working car. I'm getting there.

I've shrunk my best t-shirt to a particularly Deanesque size and have gone about rolling up my iPod in my sleeve to look like a pack of cigarettes. I am ready to take on the world. I just hope it works on the fellas as much as the gals (for I must admit as groovy as they may be, the ladies are of little interest to this tailor!)

Cheers,
the poor tailor
