The device or computer you used to type this comment was manufactured using parts and plastics derived from petroleum. The parts were most likely manufactured using petroleum based energy.

The same for your cars. Probably your solar panels, too.

Do you drive on asphalt roads?

The usefulness of petroleum goes way beyond energy consumption.

Oil made your "green" lifestyle possible. How ironic.

Making your own energy is a big step towards personal freedom. Cleaning up the air and water is simply the sane thing to do.

Using less oil coal and other fuels which put tons of pollutants and not only CO2 should be everyones goal.

To the contrary, the sane thing to do is to use the most cost efficient fuel available in a free market economy wherein public cost (externalities) are accounted for.

Everyone's goal should be to create optimal use of resources (labor, capital, land) to achieve Pigovian efficiency. That is done through a market economy and consumer preference. Using more natural gas, oil, and coal is, at this point, more economically efficient than wind power, solar power, hydrogen power, syn fuels, ethanol, electrical personal transportation [/I]and perhaps nuclear power (each of which creates their own externalities).

Besides, ng, oil, and coal are organic, natural, and recycled from dead plant matter. Nothing synthetic. It's best use is as a fuel. Using this source makes far more sense than ethanol, which has to be taken from food production, french fry grease which is in very limited supply. or wind which requires vast expanses of ag land. Right?

Global Warming or not, whatever..... my wallet says having solar panels and a plug in hybrid is extremely profitable.

My businesses say being GREEN brings sales. (ask Walmart)

Therefore if GW is or is not real or who causes it is completely irrelevant.
IT IS GOOD FOR BUSINESS.

It is good for some people's business, but it is not good for the economy. It requires significant subsidies, wastes ag land, creates its own garbage problems, and increases the costs of production and that of consumer goods. In otherwords, it destroys wealth.

However because of the idiots on the right, we had to give the advantage to the Germans and the Chinese "Global Warming is a Hoax". Guess what, not everybody thinks so. Indeed enough people think it's real that it is now big business. Thank you oh righties for allowing other countries to take the lead and make all the $. The American People will find out what happened and who screwed up this multi billion (if not trillion) $ opportunity.

A single field in ANWR is more likely to benefit the American economy than all the German or Chinese windmills born and unborn. The Chinese, in partcular, have found they can't dump the stuff and wisely are spending most of their investiment dollars in nuclear power (20 plants underconstruction now).

And when Germany no longer imports much of its electricity from less green countries, maybe I'll give them some credit. Till the the only green model that seems to work is France and nuclear power - something the 'greens' killed in this country.

Amazongate: the smoking gun

Quote:
More than five months after the IPCC was accused of making assertions on the fate of the Amazon forest on the basis of a non-peer reviewed WWF report, it now appears that the original source of the IPPC's claim is a Brazilian educational website which was taken down in 2003 (pictured - click to enlarge).

Furthermore, it appears that this is the only source of the IPCC's claim that made up the basis of "Amazongate" – that the IPCC was, once again, using unsubstantiated material which exaggerated the threat. This website, therefore, is the "smoking gun", the latest evidence to suggest that the IPCC is breaking its own rules.

Oh good gosh...doesn't anyone want to find out the truth rather than play "my side wins." I would be embarrassed to find out that my touted 'independent report' turned out to be disappointing and insincere effort.

For example, did you know that they didn't even bother to interview the victims of the censoring who were stonewalled? Are are you aware that they simply relied on the characterizations of the disputed work as provided by the perpitrators, but did not bother to contact those who made the criticisms of thier methods ?

As any investigator would tell you, that is a half assed and half hearted investigation.

Among the interesting ciriticisms form McKittrich, McIntyre, Pielke, and Pierce:

Well the either the affirmations or dismissals have to go both ways. It can't be a one way hypocrisy parade.

It can only be enacted if people believe they are "killing the planet" and must give more of their money to the government to "save the planet".

It's not difficult to understand the connections, there.

Funny thing. Stopping to stink actually puts a lot of cash into individuals pocket. You on the other hand are fighting for the the government without knowing. Your insane views on GW are making the government stronger. But you extreme facsist views are well known. feed those corps foreign and domestic.

Everyone who "goes green" is bound to:
Become more independent
Increase their individual freedom
send less money to people who hate us
Save on taxes
Save on fuel
Save on pretty much everything you need for life
Shrink the government by reducing oil money flow

But it would take minute reasoning power to understand this.

Unless "going green" as directed and sanction and "encouraged" by our socialist/fascist government overlords causes everyone to:

Become more dependent
decreases their individual freedom
send more money to people who hate us
Pay more taxes
Have less energy
Have less of everything you need for life
Grow the government by increasing money flow to it

Your reasoning is, once again, fallacious. But this is no real surprise.

Oh, wait.

Quote:
(CNN) -- An intense cold front in southern Latin America continues to blanket the region, causing deaths, school and highway closures, and other woes.

A total of 18 people have died in Bolivia as a direct or indirect consequence of low temperatures, the Peruvian state-run Andina news agency reported. The deaths were spread out throughout the country.

On Monday, Bolivian officials said temperatures in the major city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra would reach 3 C (37 F), the lowest in 29 years, and in other regions the mercury dropped below freezing, Andina reported.

In the city of Puerto Maldonado, the temperatures fell to 9 C (48 F). In the Amazon region, the usual lows are in the 20s C (high-60s F).

But wait, this is just weather, right?
