Ideas for christening present from Godfather?

Hi guys,

Some of you make remember my "I'm going to be a Godfather" thread from back before the AI dead period. Well Katie was born on 28th December 2001 and she is gorgeous.

Now though, alongside all the responsibilities that being a Godfather entails, I'll be expected to give Katie something really really special for her christening.

Can you lot give me any ideas?? Maybe MacGuru can help. What would you like from Laurin's Godfather??

Thanx,

J

How 'bout a pitchfork

Well, seeing as its a christening, maybe a Jesus action figgure?

Actually, on a serious note, Id say something that has to do with the religon, doesnt have to be expensive (the Dead Sea Scrolls) but something that would show her faith. Perhaps a nice cross pendant?

Im gonna shut up before I say anything to drive me farther into the hole...

Speaking as a Godfather, I think the key is to get something that will last. NOT something she would be lival to play with or grow out of, in other words. I got my God Daughter a crystal sculpture of a Teddy Bear. Not particularly religeous, but with a girl you can picture her keeping that around when she's older, appreciating who it came from, etc.

I look at it as something her mother or father can bring out every once in a while when she's really young (to remind her, let her examine, etc.) and then when she's old enough it will on her dresser or maybe her desk at college or her bookcase - see?

A boy would be tougher to buy for because boys don't like all that sissy memento stuff!

Speaking as an uncle and godfather, I refuse to buy the kids toys. I figure that between parents, grandparents, other aunts and uncles, etc., they will get more than plenty. One thing that I opted to do was to buy a set of proof coins from thier birth year (penny, nickle, dime and quarter in one set and silver dollar separate). I fugure that it makes a nice keepsake if nothing else.

Just a suggestion.
