Good point. Americans usually forget that their Hollywood celebrity binges turned Cuba into an American doormat, and were just as responsible for the rise of Castro as anyone else.

Klein's work is typically one-sided (lefties use disasters for their own purposes just as often) but there is merit to discussing how Haiti will be protected from international raiding.

Will Haiti's government willingly get their act together on this?

As in, the usual way things work these days?

Oh don't worry about that. The cleptocracy is depended on the "development" teat which keeps the people working for slave wages IF they can find a job. It guarantees that masses of rich people will NEVER look to Haiti as a paradise to developed and exploited. It's a far better system brought to them by the likes of the UN and Jeffery Sachs types.
