trashes

Thread Starter
Years ago I lost 250 image files, I think while transferring them. Now I have this file ._.trashes on my computer, which I cannot open, because there is no extension to it. Could it be that the lost files are closed in this trash-file? If yes, how can I open it? Maybe it is just false hope.

If it's just a file, no. Is it visible in the Finder or did you see it in a terminal window or dialog?

Usually, trash can is not a Mac OS package, it's regular (just conventionally not shown by Finder) folder .Trashes on a volume. File contents are not inside.
I'd say chances to restore files properly are rather inexistent.
