I purchased both the HD and non-HD version of Mad Men Season 3 on accident. I watched the non-HD and I really don't want to download the massive HD files. Is there a way to keep them from trying to download every time I open iTunes? I just want them to go away.

Apparently the only way to do it is to use a customer service form on Apple's iTunes support site (sorry, don't have a link handy, google it).
I seems like a bit of a hassle, but since you've been billed for the purchase it's in Apple's (and for the most part, the customer's) best interests to make sure the download gets finished.
The good news is that most people report that just a quick email of that form will get it cleared up right away.
