Regarding Romney and abortion...  My feeling is he is totally against it, but he knows that if he says that he won't get elected.  Remember back when he said he wouldn't explain his position on something because he needed 50.1% of the vote?

He would let the GOP run free and would hope to appoint a new conservative justice who would finish the job.

His opinion will also likely change the day he takes office.

Anything to get elected.

Saw a nice cartoon that showed Romney with four or five mouths and he said something like "stop me when you hear something you like".  Hahahaha.  Scary.

I (and others) have pointed out the irony of you doing what you're doing here.

I've also explained that in cases like this, there's nothing to argue. I don't dispute that they were doing this in Texas (or anywhere else). I fully expect it in fact...from both sides.

Some folks (you, Hands, jimmac, Berger, etc.) make a point of repeatedly pointing out how racist (or evil or corrupt in some way) the Republicans are while completely ignoring similar wickedness by your chosen party. Then when someone points that out, you roll out this fallacy.

It's a joke. You don't get it. Both parties are corrupt. Both parties do things like this to slant elections their own way. The corruption is wide and deep but you are willfully blind to half of it.

Get lost.

Great! Hands is at it again. Showing us more charts without context no link to original source.

Why don't we start with you Hands. What do you think this chart is telling us?

For example, what does Spain and Greece having some of the highest unemployment rates and highest top income tax rates tell us? What about Romania and the Czech Republic showing almost the opposite? Are these just outliers? Exceptions? It would seem there are (as any intelligent person would guess) other factors (probably many other factors) that affect employment rates. Someone might also ask how unemployment is calculated in each of these countries. Is it exactly the same way? I mean in the US alone, unemployment in 2012 is calculated differently than it was even 20 years ago, let alone 70 years again. In fact, if you were to use the same method for calculating it today as in the 1930's the unemployment rate would be more like 15-17% in the US right now.

Does Mitt have any comment on this behavior?  He is the defacto leader of the party now, a bishop no less.  How does he want his party to represent itself at its own convention?

Racism really is starting to play an important aspect in this election now and Romney has on blinders if he does not see this happen before his eyes.Or perhaps he does not care because the Tea party controls him like a puppet.

He once stated that he would not answer questions because he needed 50.1% of the vote.  He won't care about these things because they would prevent him from achieving his goal.

Anything goes as long as he wins.

Thus also the multi-angled positions he's taken; each will suit a certain sector of the populace that is too lazy to look at the others and will lt him slip by.  Once in office, he will do what he wants because he hasn't really said anything concrete.

A good read:

I did link to the data in the previous comment you accused me of not linking to. BEA no less. This time it's in the graph, and here's the link http://epp.eurostat.ec.europa.eu/portal/page/portal/publications/collections/sif_dif

The graph shows quite clearly that the higher the max tax rate the less unemployment there is generally. That's because that wealth reaches people who actually spend it that support businesses by the consumers buying their products. There are of course exceptions, notably the PIIGS, who have got themselves into too much debt, but lowering the maximum tax rate would hurt them even more. It's just one more bit of data as far as I'm concerned that shows how important it is to not to concentrate all the wealth of a nation in the hands of a super wealthy elite if you want a society where everyone benefits from the output of it's people.

It shows that there might be a correlation. But there are so many outliers this is difficult to assume. It also doesn't prove any kind of causal relationship either direction.

That's not now the economy works actually. Wealth is created when those who save and invest, invest in production. Wealth is not created when people consume. You have it backwards. Granted production is done for the purpose of consumption, but for wealth to grow (and correspondingly employment) and accumulate, production is always ahead of and in advance of consumption. Always. Production investment comes out of savings. Savings come from those with the higher propensity to save and lower propensity to spend (the relatively wealthier.)

Romney and his wife are such liars. Unfortunately most voters will never read that link, or that he went to Central American oligarchs who ran death squads to keep Bain Capital in cash.

The general population shouldn't have weapons like this, it's just asking for trouble. A well regulated militia though, they should get them if they wish.

That would never happen.

The utter lack of concern about the radically increased militarization of police in the US is rather disturbing.

Disturbing, for me, goes in the order:

Disturbing: radically increased militarization of police in the US

More Disturbing: the casual lack of concern or disregard for it by most people

Most Disturbing: the actual support and endorsement of it by many people

Well the constitution says there should be one by law, so it's a tricky situation. I think without the peoples backing they'd never win against a tyrannical government. If they just went ballistic over nothing, they'd be shut down pretty quick. Common sense therefore would dictate they hold off unless they have the peoples support and a good case for revolution. I must admit though that it would be a dangerous situation, but that's what the founding fathers wanted.

So much more material with Obama. I don't really care much about Romney. Obama's the one in power. Obama's the one who's all hopey and changey. Obama's the smug and arrogant one. Obama's the one who wants to be re-elected after the disaster of a presidency. Obama's the one who's supposedly above the fray and shepherding in a post-partisan world.

Mind you, I don't expect much difference from Romney as president, though I hope to be surprised. But Obama's given us so much to work with. He's an arrogant idiot. Or he's evil and arrogant.

Ultimately though he's a politician who simply wants to get re-elected yet is somehow viewed as more pure and righteous than any others. That's why poking fun at him is so much fun.

Parts of Louisiana is underwater.  Governors are asking for federal funds... funds that Ryan voted against.

Yahoo news guy gets fired for making a (truthful?) comment (off air but hot mic) about how odd it is that the GOP is having a party while blacks are under water.

And the GOP circus continues...

What I loved was it took Christie a long time to even mention Mitt.  Mitt doesn't seem so well-liked, rather being put up with as long as "our side" wins.

Kinda interesting meter for the conventions - set up the same way for both GOP and Dem.

Essentially:

Our guy is great

We love our country

Their guy sucks

Something else

War

So far, Romney is getting mentioned less than love of country and half the mentions of how bad the other guy is.  He's on par with "other" issues.

War, thankfully, is pretty low.

http://elections.huffingtonpost.com/2012/convention-mentions

edit:  our guy great 133, their guy bad 325

Basically:  He sucks!  Vote for us!

Wouldn't it be nice if politicians (yeah, all parties) would run a campaign like Our guy is great and these are the reasons why; you choose which you think would serve you better?  It's all how bad the other is.  Depressing.

How did these delegates get there in the first place?  This kind of behavior would have come out before, probably often.  The state headquarters must have known the attitudes and let it go.

Wonder if there is video of the incident?  If so, they could replay it for Rice and the other minority guest speakers so delightfully paraded before a hall of white people; their reactions would be interesting.

CNN is not talking about it, much, which leads me to believe Camp Romney came down pretty hard.  CNN's Erin whatever is also salivating over Ryan, so it seems they want to present the GOP in a favorable view.

Even Fox had some bad news for Ryan's speech:

Dazzling

Deceiving

Distracting

Overall, sounds pretty bad.

Looks like Camp Romney is really counting on the average American to be a dunce.

You do understand the difference between opinion and news right? That is an opinion piece. You can find such an opinion piece on Fox because they don't only hire conservatives and regardless of orientation, their news is news instead of opinion and "analysis" posing as news.

That is part of why Fox News has higher ratings than MSNBC and CNN combined.

I agreed with you... News in net always talk about him. I am tired reading something about him.
