I have his email, thinking about emailing him to tell him I have some rare never heard in public recordings of the beatles to find out if he would interested in them.

good idea or not to email him?

Maybe you should be contacting Apple Records not Apple, Inc

This is not for Apple's benefit
this is for Steve's benefit
Steve (and his leadership) have been very good to all of us
I want to express my sincere thanks to him by offering to give it to him

But, I hear emailing him is hit-or-miss and if too many people start emailing him, he might stop using email and communicating with the dev community.

so, I'm torn on what to do.

I wouldn't do it personally, but the people in control of the Beatles music deserve to get their music stolen online being such old fashioned mean idiots.
