Monitor Colors blowing out

Thread Starter
I just bought a new (used) monitor last night and plugged it in and everything looked great.

The reason I bought this monitor was to replace another monitor that was having issues. Light colors were getting blown out and dark colors looked muddy. I assumed this was a monitor issue. It's a cheap gateway lcd hooked up to a G4 tower. The new monitor is an older 17" apple lcd display.

So, everything looked great last night, but now I'm having the same issue with the apple monitor today. No matter how I calibrate it, the light colors are blown out. Light grays/tans look white.

I really don't think this is a calibration issue. Any ideas on what the issue might be? Do I have a bad video card?

Do you have access to some other graphics card to test whether or not the card is the problem?
