The Rainbow Home Cleaning System!

If you guys don't know about these, check out here

I used to sell these. Now I'm looking for a used one on Ebay. You would not believe the freakin' resale value. I am talking about 5-10 year old machines going for 50% of their orginal sale price.

If anyone knows someone who wants to sell a nice one let me know. If you don't know about them, they are a cannister vacuum that filters the dirt through water instead of bags. Believe me when I tell you they are "the ****".

We used to have one when i was a kid. If I remember correctly they worked OK but they were not better than a good electrolux. No where near a Kirby either. They look like a brown R2-D2 on caster wheels and a handle on top. The water swirls around when it's on and you can see it from the bottom portion of the canister. Don't use it to suck up sand or anything heavy like that though.

Man, the Rainbow rocks! Those things are great, but expensive. They really do work as well as the company says. It's unreal how much dirt they pick up.

Resale value on Kirby vacuums used to be pretty high, too, because they're freaking indestructable.

It isn't a shop vac. It isn't for sawdust or things like that. It is for general home cleaning.

And, after selling them at one point, I can tell you they clean far better than any conventional vacuum, especially the newer models. It has nothing to do with water swirling around.....the water acts as a filter for the dirt. The best thing is they can be used for air cleaning filtration, while others (even HEPA vacuums) release dust.

Anyway, I won an auction for one last night.

Oh, and they destroy Kirby, BTW.

Hmmm... water and home electrical systems... manual labor with GODAMM PLASTIC TOOLS ELECTOCUTION DIEDIEIDIDIEIDIEDIE!

Sorry. I hate vacuum cleaners. They are indispensible - I have no idea how my grandmother cleaned carpets before vacuums. She said that back at her boarding school she had cleaning duty every Friday and... cleaned. Her whole floor is carpeted, I noticed when I visited. Dunno if it's a relatively new carpet, she went to school 60 years ago, but it's old.

HELLO! There WERE vacuums 60 years ago. In fact, the Rainbow was invented in '35.
And, it certainly wasn't conventional then.

are rainbows the one with the water? i bought a kirby and I like it but it is too heavy. it does do a good job on the carpets though. if anyone is getting one go to http://www.thevacuumheadquarters.com/ so that you dont get ripped off. I overpaid by almost double!

I dont recommend dyson, my neighbor has one and she hates it.

We just got a Roomba and haven't needed to clean since (it does all the work; hopefully one day they will make a self-emptying model).

Ahh, laziness.

They are perfect for Japan as people here generally don't have that much furniture and always remove their shoes at the front door, so less crap gets carted in.

Just happy we don't have a pet...
