Our pop music hero is being wrongly persecuted because he's got money and we all know the po-lice and white people in general just hate to see a successful african-american.

I mean, just listen to his faithful fans: he has dedicated songs to churches and sung the national anthem during sport events. He must be innocent. Pay no attention to past behvior. This is all about the man keeping R. down.

[end sarcasm]Not saying he doesn't deserve a trial, but this bastard has already been involved in relations any respectable man wouldn't have had. Yet radio people want to look for any excuse or cop-outs they can to continue playing his music (hey, so long as it's "positive" we can ignore all the "negative" tracks). And of course the fans are deluding themselves once more into thinking one of their chosen idols can't be a jagoff.

What is it with people and their celebrities? Are they really that dumb that they don't understand what fame does to some of these people?

[quote]The indictment charges that Mr. Kelly "knew or should have known" that the girl was a minor. The police did not identify the girl, who is now 17, and said the tape was made from November 1997 to last February.

12 years old.

There is no logic from the two people at the bottom of the article. Total idiots.

Grrrr. Another star gets in trouble with the law. Oh, my heart bleeds so terribly. Some of these brats get more public exposure than Condit or Lewinsky. Strange how someone can attain heroic status by churning out bland, derivative, massmarket corporate R&B drivel and sell it by airing a child-porn video and there's folk out there lapping it up as if there's something artistic or sincere in it's content. Whoever funded this video (ie the record label) and whoever has aired it (MTV?) should be charged with accessory to child pornography and mass promotion of sex with minors. C'mon people, why is it OK for celebrities to get away with it when regular folk would be vilified?

In the USA, despite the (selectively) up-tight and puritan underpinnings of our culture, commerce rules the waves and sex is the preferred device, an easy sell for any product out there, from cars to music. If a company is going to buy rotation time for a commercial, in this case, a video to sell a song, they should keep it within the law. At least Roman Catholic priests aren't publicly promoting their filthy foibles via pop videos. Although, if it could make a buck or two, I wouldnt put it past MTV to try it out.

Child porn is NOT OK!!!!. Some of these (R&B) stars really plumb the abyss to make $$$$$.

Yeah, they should be more like those wholesome, pure rock, country, and jazz musicians, who NEVER, EVER, EVER engage in ANY improper relationships with women, even despite the overwhelming temptations that lie backstage after every show.

I normally like what you have to say, but that last remark was just dumb. Could we do without the "(R&B)" part? Thanks in advance.

Even Trent Reznor has sense enough not to do something like this. I know one girl who was 16 at the time, he invited her backstage, they talked for a while, he found out she was a minor and said "nice meeting you, bye."

R. Kelley is guy who tried to marry a 15 year old. I'm a bit confised by the charge however. I'm sort of splitting hairs, but why "child pornography" and not "statutory rape?"

Trent does have a certain reputation after all. Not NIN-bashing or anything.

I watch music videos as much as anyone, including a whole bunch in the hiphop/rap/r'n'b genres (it's hard not to!), and that is where much of the most blatant sexual content is to be found. Yes of course there's sexual content in most music categories (specially metal), but the predominance of sex (and a lack of other themes) in r'n'b is kind of noticeable, is it not? I definitely wasn't implying that r'n'b has a total monopoly on sexual content!

I think that anecdote says quite a bit about Mr. Reznors character. There are many, many entertainers in that situation who would have gone for it, believe me.

Oh, I agree about the Reznor thing. My friend said he was polite before and after he realized she was a minor. He didn't just kick her out right there, but spoke with her for a while, made chit-chat, etc. (on the other hand, he did keep me waiting ).

They should have arrested him years ago for his so called music. Anyway I've seen the vid and he is as guilty as can be. Of course he'll probable just deny and deny and get off (again) like O.J.

What do you define R&B as? I wouldn't say R&B sucks but then I don't know what "REAL" music is.

Man. That is sick & sad at the same time. I mean dude could get any one of the fine hunnies that appear in his music videos, yet has to result to these disturbing methods of self indulgence. How old was he when he tried to marry Aaliyah.

All he needs to do is get Johnny Cochran to play the race card and get him off scott free. Afterall, we all know OJ didnt murder Nicole right?

R&B isn't real music right. And I suppose you listen to people screaming into a microphone over loud bass chords. Wow, that's pure pedigree.

I don't believe in "Race Cards"

If you ever find yourself in court on Criminal Charges you better hope that Counselor plays ANY card necessary to save your bacon. I find it reprehensible that people would distill Due Process of the Law down to a cheesy line like Race Card.

We do not have any mythical cards to protect Kelley. He will have his day in court and God save his soul if he's convicted cause his azz belongs to his new prison Wife.
