Do gay guys get more action?

Thread Starter
Seems to me that when you combine the sex drive of your average young male (which is tremendous) with the male proclivity for shagging almost any anything even remotely desirable, then gay guys ought to be getting laid like crazy.

I mean, if I could walk into a bar full of women as horny and willing as me (in my younger pre-married days that is), then it would be Screw City every night.

Jamie, you said that this isn't true. Enlighten me please. To be honest I don't understand homosexuality (I'm straight), but what you do in the privacy of your own home is your own business.

I'm pretty sure that surveys on this topic show that gay men get more action than anyone, and that's certainly the stereotype.

Yeah Gay guys get play from women!!!

Many Gay Men are what Women think of as attractive plus many dress very well.

Don't know about Men but they get action from Women.

Studies have shown that many (<-- I'm not saying "all" or "most") gay men have upwards of 1000 different sexual partners over a lifetime.

AIDS awareness and fear has significantly reduced that proclivity, but it is still not odd to find a homosexual male that has had sex with 10+ different men in any given month or two.

Things seem to be moving downwards (number-wise) as a trend in the U.S. (which is all I know about, social morays differ from place to place).

You've got to be f*cking kidding me! 1,000 partners! Holy smokes! If I'd know that I'd have switched teams! Okay, just kidding about that last part.

Can you provide a source?

What're the equivalent heterosexual and lesbian numbers?

So the best comparison is to lesbians. How much action do they get?

If it's a male thing, you'd expect this pattern:

Most sex
1. gay men
2. heterosexuals
3. lesbians
least sex

Lesbians probably just cuddle by the fire every night.

My source?
Professors and books I've heard/read throughout my continuing education at UT-Austin. Dr. Niles Franks, Dr. Thom Delville, Dr. David M. Buss (and his book(s)). Studies by other higher-education folks discussed by said professors.

No links, sorry.

Lesbians are completely different from homosexual men. You accurately described the situation in your first post, with homosexual men they both have the sex drive that dominates and so they are both eager to relieve those sexual urges and not always extraordinarily picky about those they choose as sexual partners.

Basically, homosexual are men who are attracted men. They are still men.

With lesbians studies have shown that relationships are far more important than in the homosexual-male world. They are still women, after all, and want the things women want, only with other women as their partner.

Of course, it's not that simple, but that's the general feel I've gotten from what I've learned.

In my uhh...personal experience, I've experienced that at least in attitude, gobble gobble has it down, as far as the whole "if everyone were as horny as i am" thing. I don't know that that necessarily correlates to more sexual partners (not in my case), or just more sex. I can't speak for the whole group, but without going into all the specifics, it seems to me that in gay relationships, you're less likely to have to worry about a partner with a low sex drive.

Combine that with not having to worry about pregnancy, and if you're doing it safe, you've got sex as casual as it can be, these days anyway.

gobble gobble, when I said that it wasn't true in another thread I was actually trying to dampen a recent image which, seems to have built up in the heads of some other members, of me as a kind of slut.

In my limited experience (I'm only 19), it is true. When you meet another guy in a gay club there is almost no doubt that you'll be having some kind of sex at the end of night or even before the end of the night if it can't wait. Of course this doesn't apply to all gay guys, I'm sure there are a couple who aren't sluts.

Anyway, I've always said that I'm not a 'fly the flag" gay so bring on the good ol' queer jokes. You know you wanna.

J

PS Oh and as for lesbians, I heard they just go home at the end of an evening and lick each others cats! Weird.

From my understanding, the studies that state that gay men have 1000s of partners are seriously flawed. Flawed to the point of being a waste of paper, in fact.

gobble gobble, I would also say that your assumption is also flawed. True there are many gay guys that get laid often. But there are many straight guys who also get laid on a very regular basis. You are no more likely to get laid a lot if you are gay than if you are straight.

In fact, I know plenty of gay guys who have very little sex. I have had sex maybe twice in the past 6 months, if that gives you any indication.

Furthermore, I would say that your question (or at least my interpretation of it) relies on the popular notion that homosexuality is all about sex. And this is simply not true. Most gay guys have a lot of other things to do besides look for sex all the time. Although you wouldn't know this if you venture over to a gay chat room on yahoo.

Oh, and by the way, I don't do homosexuality in the privacy of my own home any more than you do heterosexuality in the privacy of your own home. I am gay at work, at the grocery store, when pumping gas, when driving, when shopping, when reading, when sweeping, when mowing the gas. I'm not just gay in the bed room.

Sorry for the rant and for the disorganized nature of this post. I had to get up really early this morning, and didn't get enough sleep. It's catching up with me.

edit:
Just remembered what I forgot:
You also have to remember that a LARGE population of gay man (and lesbians, and straights, for that matter) don't live in major cities. And in many of the smaller towns that they live in, there is a homophobic attitude in the town. This keeps a lot of gay men and lesbians closeted. Now, just for a second, try to imagine trying to find a girl to have sex with if everyone thought that you were gay, and you couldn't correct them for fear for your safety, and all of the women claimed to be lesbians. It's not easy.

Personally I'd have to question the whole matter of logistics. Lets say you're gay and single for 15 years before finding a life partner (or whatever the terminology is). At a total of 1,000 partners over 15 years, that 66.67 new partners per year, or one new partner about every 6 days. That's a serious amount of sex. And whatever happened to going back for a second helping.

I do believe that gay men on average have more partners than heterosexual men, but 1,000 partners seems an order of magnitude too high. Although I'm sure that some small percentage reaches these heights.

Plus I'd be scared to screw that many people. You'd have every known veneral disease in no time at all. Safe sex is one of the many advantages of marriage.

Not to mention the fact that these studies have to be done with people who admit to being gay. A lot of people would not, even today. So these studies can skew to people who have no inhibitions about answering frank questions about their sex lives. People who are free about talking about it may just be the people who are free about doing it. They could be getting information entirely from the "Circuit Boys" who party all the time.

Having said that, gay men are men. We are possibly more likely to get to the point, as it were, faster than hetero couples.

So this means that in the interest of catching up, Xidius can give his brother my phone number.

The logistics issue: my point exactly. Besides. I've had 4 partners. That means that following the 1000 person thing, sone guy out there would have to have sex with 1,996 people in order to average me out. ridiculous.

Now, I am not saying that there are not guys out there that do have an overactive sex life, but not that overactive.

safe sex isn't an advantage of marriage. safe sex is an advantage of not being stupid.

It also involves asking guys about how many people they have had sex with. remember, men are notorious for lying about that, multiplying the actual number so that they look more, um, i'm not really sure what the reason for it is...
