They were more than you know. These things didn't start with Bush and they certainly haven't ended with Bush.

Regime change in Iraq due to non-compliance with U.N. resolutions was the policy of the Clinton Administration.

However let's take a look at Afghanistan too.

Afghanistan was fighting the Soviet Union up until 1989. This fight was made difficult due to the arming and training of militant, Muslim, mujahideen. This training and arming was started under President Jimmy Carter, a Democrat. Operation Cyclone was indeed expanded under Reagan in part due to lobbying for it by Charles Wilson, a Democrat.

Why can someone like yourself ignore Jimmy Carter sending troops into Afghanistan against the Soviets in 1979? It is because you'd rather look at a party than a policy. The policy, Pax Americana has been in place since the end of WWII. Bush was just the lastest iteration of it. We didn't imagine Korea, Vietnam, Somalia, Bosnia, etc.

There is a reason President Obama has not deviated one iota from Bush policy. It is because he is following a policy, not a party.

Take off the blinders and start questioning the policy if you want something to change.

S Korea and China defence chiefs to meet amid tension
Quote:
South Korean and Chinese defence ministers are to meet in Beijing in February amid rising tension on the Korean peninsula, Seoul has said.
It provided no details of the talks, but the two sides are expected to discuss what Seoul describes as North Korea's hostile acts in recent months.
These include the deadly shelling of a South Korean border island.
China, the North's only major ally, is facing mounting pressure to encourage Pyongyang to show more restraint.

It's a start. China does a lot of trade with ROK so it is also in their best interest to resolve the issue between NK and ROK.

Congratulations, you have caught up with the conversations we were having 10 years ago on AO. It truly is the case that Conservatives are well behind the times.

Of course there is this

That my friend clearly demonstrates the psychosis of the right. Not because its false, but because its true.

South Korea predicts North Korea will ramp up attacks in 2011
Quote:
South Korean intelligence analysts predict North Korean commanders will raise the tempo of shock strikes in the new year to enhance the image of leader Kim Jong-ils son and heir apparent, Kim Jong-un, and prove their loyalty to the Kim dynasty.

A leading South Korean think tank affiliated with the Souths National Intelligence Service came out with that forecast this weekend along with the prediction that Kim Jong-un, in his late 20s, would become vice chairman of the Norths powerful National Defense Commission. His father rules as commission chairman in addition to his post as general secretary of the Workers Party.

The Institute for National Security Strategy, an offshoot of the National Intelligence Service, warned of increasing unexpected moves as the Norths huge military machine of 1.1 million troops scrambles to display its loyalty to Kim Jong-un.

One of the big ??is what impact Kim Jung Un..the heir apparent will have on NK's diplomacies...more of the same?....more militaristic hard line?....an opening of dialogue?

South Korea must unite to survive, says President Lee
Quote:
South Korean President Lee Myung-bak has told his nation it must unite in the face of military aggression from the North.
