Do you flash your lights to warn fellow motorists of a speed trap? - Page 2

I don't flash to warn usually: sometimes I do on the highway. Here's why:
I'm an avid cyclist and I've seen way too many idiots going way too fast on 2 lane roads with no shoulders around here. These roads also have limited sight distances, what with the blind curves and hills. Speeding on these types of secondary roads is incredibly dangerous for pedestrians (there are no sidewalks here) and cyclists, not to mention other drivers in the same lane or coming on. I don't care if you drive an M3 or a truck, its not easy to stay in your lane when going above the 30-35 mph speed limit posted on these roads. Driving or riding around here can be incredibly scary.
So, I'm all for the cops stopping people and giving tickets on these roads. Sometimes, speed traps are useful for more than just city revenue.
On the highway, though, there's very little reason for a low speed limit like 65mph, except that anybody who can parallel park can get a license.
Thoth
You can fly?!?
No. Jump good.

Here in Oregon we have insanely low speed limits. The freeway going from downtown Portland all the way to the beach is 50mph  It isn't any better anywhere else in the state either. The highest speed limit in the state is 65 and that is about a 20 mile stretch between Portland and Salem as well as a couple other places. Basically all the speeds on Oregon highways should be 10mph higher. Goddamit.

Taking your foot off the gas doesn't do the same thing? If you have a manual you can just down shift.

Scott, sure. I use the cruise because it's harder to maintain my speed with my foot, not because I'm lazy. The do it yourself method can have you really flying before you know it. But, yeah, taking your foot off the gas pedal is equivalent to standing on the coast button.
