You must spend a lot of time trying to always make certain that you have the latest and greatest of everything. Some people would say that is a waste of time. Some people would also say that it is a waste of my time responding to the idiotic notions that people on this forum are perpetually expounding. You have no idea in what ways the next iPhone will improve on the iPhone 4, and you cannot say anything about the extent to which Verizon subscribers who have been waiting a long while to update their phones will care about those newer features, if in fact there are any that amount to much at all.

does facetime work over the CDMA link directly without WiFi? That's a big win for Verizon if it is (I apologize... I was on the road during the live cast). If not, then the voice/data limitation is a big whiff (not that I'm switching... I'm a 3 iPhone AT&T family plan with 1.5 years to wait).

But Facetime over CDMA plus a hotspot would be nice. (if anything, I could get a verizon iPhone 4 and use it to hotspot my AT&T iPhone and facetime from that;-)

I am perfectly fine with AT&T.

Why should anyone change, when you can't use the phone and data at the same time? So if one gets a call, and want to find a location on Google map, one has to hang up first. That sucks the fun out of iPhone. Not worth it!

I use my data more than phone. I am reading my mails when phone comes in, and I can handle both on AT&T. I can use phone and text at the same time. Internet search and phone, etc.

I am staying with AT&T. No, I am not going to switch, even if Verizon is giving iPhone for free!

How many times must you ask this and how many times must you ignore the data.

1) You ignore the sheer number of sales the iPhone has that makes even meeting the GSM demand difficult.

2) You ignore that Verizon customers want the iPhone.

4) You ignore the potential for AT&Ts contract to see be in effect for exclusivity for new iPhone releases for a set time.

I am a fanboy with a 3GS as I *had* to upgrade this time last year, my first gen was bust. I missed the IP4 but will now get the IP5. And not on release, but a month later. This is the way that phones and contracts work. With an 18 month contract you *cant* get the latest and greatest on release - because they are yearly. I learned to live with it.

MAYBE they don't plan to change release cycles AND MAYBE Apple already has a CDMA iPhone 5 in development alongside the iPhone 5 for the ATT network.

The truth is we don't know what's going to happen until the next announcement.

At this point I would wait. Shipping will take ages and I think there is a high probability that the iPhone 5 will be universal (CDMA+GSM) given the fact, that Apple always tries to unify their products. Also do you remember the newly designed metal bands (4 gaps instead of 3).

LTE would be nice for the iPhone 5, but i wouldn't count on it, especially after the remark that those first gen LTE Cell receivers are large...

iOS is made for dual core (remember GCD, etc...)

No, it just means that Verizon has roaming agreements with CDMA networks which are compatible with the Verizon iPhone 4 in 40 countries.

Even though I see everyone claim iPhone 5 in Summer 2011, your timeline appears much more likely. A speed bumped iPhone 4 will keep up with this year's latest Androids while giving Apple the development time needed to do a significant upgrade next year.
