Going to Montreal

Anyone who knows or lives in Montreal, any suggestions where to go or what to do?

I love this city and my family has taken a trip here for the last few years in a row, and I wondering what else we can do here. Of course all the usual touristy things have been covered like the Olympic Park, Geodome, Imax, Labrynth, amusement park, zoo. Thanks for the reply!

I was going to go to McGill, as my 'where from' use to say, but now it's on to RI for me. Besides, I took Spanish!

Hey, thanks for replying! I'm actually in Montreal now! Or, Moh-tray-all. I might go to a game EmAn, I've never been to a major league ball game, only a minor league game.

I'm 18, but 100% straightedge (I do not drink alcohol etc). I'm also with my family remember

The people here got so excited when there were some fireworks (the ones in the backwoods are Vermont are almost as good, but not over water or a bridge of course) I think maybe it's because they don't have a 4th of July? Does anyone else use fireworks like we do in the US?

There's no place like Montreal for eating, that's for sure.

That's right!

Are you an adventurous eater? I'd suggest "Le Pied De Cochon", on Duluth Street (near St-Hubert). It is traditional Quebec cuisine but really done up in a gourmet and unique way. The prices, for americans, are quite reasonnable for what I believe is trully a culinary delight and a nice entry into Quebec culture.

Are you going to see some of the free shows at the FrancoFolies?

Sounds good, maybe I'll check this out tonight.

FrancoFolies, what is this? There seems to be some kind of festival going on right now. What were the fireworks for? (They were pretty good, no!?) I saw a lot of pictures on a sidewalk of a street, they were pretty cool. Also I hear there's a music festival going on, I think? So matvei where are you in Montreal?

It's funny, I can't get the question mark on a keyboard of a french computer! It gives me an accented uppercase E instead! Ah, and how about the strikes of the hotel workers? We went by the Crowne Plaza Metro Center Holiday Inn Hotel and met the protesters! Good luck to them. Unfortunately, we ended up at a Bed & Breakfast right across the street. Guess what woke me up? <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />

I went for a couple of weeks in June and loved it (my sister lives there). It was my second visit there. I went to a couple of baseball games since the Jays were in town. I highly recommend the Biodome as well, its ashowcase of north & south american animal habitat. Take a ride up to the top of the big 'O' for a spectacular view as well. the old port is neat too...

For nite life take a walk along St. Catherine street on friday or saturday night and being your party hat! St. Laurent is a good street as well for night life, YOU MUST stop at Schwartz's for a smoked meat sandwich, its a spriritual experience. get a pickel too.

I have pictures from my trip up at

Great pictures! A few years ago I went to the biodome and up the 'tail' (I always thought the whole thing looked like a giant insect, perhaps a beetle) of the Olympic Stadium. Once on a tour bus that goes out into the water I saw those "freaky cubist condos." Very strange looking indeed! I like your "hog" too Thank you for your suggestions!

Those are very good pictures! So do you have a .Mac trial account now? *Sigh* I signed up for iTools one week before MWNY and never even used it.

I upgraded to .Mac right shortly after MWNY. I love it, perfect compliment to the camera. I was ready to upgrade my iTools account for more storage which would have cost $100 for another 100MB anyways. this way I get my virus checker and I can easily backup my contacts/address book, etc as a bonus.

Im glad you enjoyed the pictures. I bought my iBook and Fuji Digicam the night before I floew out there. That was my first try with each of those.

have fun!

Here is one person that can answer your questions; the fireworks are a competition that takes place all during summer and the winner will give another performance at the end.

The Francopholies is a French cultural festival that includes all the francophones in the world.

Soon you will have the Just for Laugh festival and then the Cinema festival in August.
