College Football 2002

FSU 38
ISU 31

Wow, what a game-I think you could call that a scare for FSU!

As a Cyclone fan, playing one of the high-rent teams that tough is better than most wins.

Great start to the college season!
Jeff

Edit-Time to go kick their butts on NCAA 2003!

I used to be an FSU fan until the Peter Warrick affair. After that I lost all remaining respect I had for them at that time.

That said, I've never rooted for ISU for anything in my entire life (except when they play Nebraska), but I was cheering for them tonight when I caught the last 5 minutes. Given the benefit of a replay I think that endzone dive was [danpatrick]good[/danpatrick].

Free Shoes U isn't the same team they were in the mid-90's. On a tangent, I am not 100% positive it's a new design for this season, but I suspect Steve Spurrier is behind Washington's new helmet decal (the FSU spear). I find it hilarious. What a jab at Bowden.

The first thing I thought when I tuned in to that pre-season game this year was "Whoa, never thought I'd see Coach Superior (not a typo) coaching a team with arrowheads!"

It's easy to hate the 'Noles for beating everyone's butts, but I've always kinda liked Bowden. He's funny and says what's on his mind.

Plus, he said his team was lucky to win tonight!

Spurrier is just an evil brat genius.

FSU was absolutely killing it that game too weren't they? People were talking about them being back, I don't know after that scare with Iowa State.

Ohio State! Maurice Clarett freshman rb ran for 175 yds and had 3 tds. This guy was a man amongst boys in the high school ranks at Warren Harding. Prescott Burgess is another guy from Harding with some good talent. I'd know since that D1 Region 1, the same my high school plays in. Clarett and his Harding teammates should've beat Ignatius last year. Maurice Clarett. Remember that name folks!

MSU, MSU!
The spartans should be pretty good this year. Suspect defensive line and running backs, but Jeff Smoker to Charles Rogers should be an even sweeter combination than it was last year.

MSU always finds a way to choke against big opponents. If they don't lose to Michigan, they'll find a way to lose to OSU. Like most BigTen schools, their only legitimate goal each year is winning the BigTen (which typically doesn't "net" you much in the final standings).

Ohio State looks to be getting back to late 90's NFL Minor League system status, I think they're a darkhorse National Champ pick.

How about Anthony Davis from Wisconsin? Granted Fresno isn't a Big Ten or XII level defense, but still...

Oregon might be my favorite non-conference team. After the great game they gave us in the 2000 Holiday Bowl I have eternal respect for Joey Harrington, Onterrio Smith and that awesome coach whose name escapes me at the moment.

You are absolutely, 100% correct!

The big 10 is very tough and the only way you can be a national title contender is if your undeafeated, which is a rare occurence in the conference.

Then again, I'm a Northwestern fan

CaseCom, I notice Northwestern opens with Air Force next week-always a scary team!

I love smaller schools that run the option and give major conference teams a hard time:
Ohio U.
Air Force
Navy
Rice

Good now that he got rid of the mullet... He's supposed to be pretty good though. I guess we'll find out soon.

Football. Odd choice of name considering that the ball is very rarely actually kicked. It's always struck me as being Rugby only with more padding used to make it seem more exciting. Maybe that's just me though. If you people like it then that's okay by me. It just strikes me as odd that you label this sport football and call real football (where feet are used nearly exclusively) the odd choice of name, soccer. Who's winning at the moment anyway?

Rugby kicks @$$. So does Aussie rules football!

Watch out for Washington State.

Whoa, I thought Northwestern would have trouble with Air Force, but, geez!

I thought Oregon's win was the most impressive of the week, Southern Miss is no pushover.

I know Notre Dame has a lot of haters, but they ARE college football tradition, so I hope they're back on track.

Nebraska didn't look too dominant!

Could Michigan have been more lucky on that last drive?

Jeff

And one more thing...

Iowa State sits alone atop the Big XII standings!

Cincinnati 36
TCU 29

w00t! I was flipping through channels and I noticed this game was on ESPN, so I decided to watch a bit. Game was awesome. I think it was like 24-16 in the 4th quarter and Cincy tied it up 29-29 on a 2 pt conversion. Scored in OT and stopped TCU. Although I don't like football all that much and we're not exactly a football school.

Wait till March Madness.

I'll stick to the Buckeyes in football.

Oh, a college football team I like is Marshall. They're not one of these huge schools yet they get it done on the field. Byron Leftwich is awesome.

I love it when I stumble onto a really great game I would never give a second look on paper. Thursday ESPN games tend to be pretty cool like that.

well, Im sure I'll get some heat for this but I have to say it. Notre dame will go 11-0 this season under new head coach Tyrone Willingham. And will win the national championship for the first time since 1989. (should be '93 but the idiots gave it to FSU who ND beat the pants off of during the regular season , poor Lou Holtz, they were robbed).
back! Back! I am protected by my own RDF. along with all the other ND fans out there
ok, ok ,8-3 would still be an ok season for a lame team such as ND.
Signed, fair weather fan Magicfingers.
ps...i cant help it (re:RDF),Ive lived a mile or so from ND all my life.
