I take it that you didn't notice that the Thunderbolt port was the exact same shape as a mini DisplayPort port?

LightPeak (aka Thunderbolt) supports multiple protocols, including DisplayPort. If the port is the same as mini Display/Port whats stopping you from plugging a mini DisplayPort cable into that thing? Nothing. Based on the leaks today, the new port will be a mini DisplayPort port and a Thunderbolt port in one. Such a port would make perfect sense for the iPad (HD video out and a high speed data connection).

Apple's invitation is quite cocky. I can't wait to see what they are coming out with because Apple is a company that delivers pretty well. If this is truly the year of the iPad 2, even if it may not have the same specs as the Android tablets, there has to be some form of game changer here.

By the way: in all of Apple's product photography, the products have that diagonal glossy screen because it makes there products look slick and shiny. It is not a real reference of how the product's screen is going to look.

Yep. You can see it in this stock photo from Apple's website. Do people seriously think the invite photo is iPad 2.0?

So I wonder if they will offer enough in version 2 to make me want to give up my Unlimited Data plan.\

Any rumor as to who will MC the event since Steve is on leave?

Ten years ago, we had Steve Jobs, Bob Hope and Johnny Cash.  Today we have no Jobs, no Hope and no Cash.

One of my profs from long ago, if asked a question that ended with "at", would respond...

"Between the 'a' and the 't'."

People forget also that advertising copy is not proper English and never has been. Traditionally, a huge amount of leeway is given advertising agencies since their very business is inventive wordplay.

If it was a headline in a newspaper it's time to get upset, when it's an advert ... not so much.

In my family, the traditional granting of leeway was celebrated ill-hung bunting with.

Apple's frameworks like OpenCL, but even basic Quartz and others do this automatically. This is the huge advantage Apple has. As the hardware improves, the existing programs will get boosted performance automatically. Sure, when certain routines are optimized applications can speed up more - but the way the SDK is structured right now, there is quite a bit of automatic optimization going on under the hood.

Such incremental advantages of "The Apple Way" are just going to continue to accelerate the gap between Apple and everyone else.

Putting the iPad after the iPhone makes people demand everything the iPhone has in the iPad. Apple doesn't want to do that.

It's only in the standard front line fluff. It took three clicks to navigate to, all obvious ones. Maybe a little self exploration is in order before you ask for hand holding?

And OBTW, the same graphic in different sizes appears in a good half-dozen plus other places on the site. It's actually hard to miss if you are looking for it.

How? All the dude is saying is that the photo in the invite is a stock photo off the current website. I don't see any crow being eaten over that, he's correct on that point.

So are you going to dine on some corvus cornix for your poor case of reading comprehension?

Well I had already prior to posting, obviously it was missed, saw it the second time around.

So sorry to inconvenience you, god forbid you just link it in the first place.

Wow, God forbid I did link it, maybe I should edit the link out to make you happy. In the future if you don't want the heat, stay out of the kitchen. Throw-downs that are little more than calling for links are generally poor form and indicate laziness.

There are ways you could have worded things differently to avoid the implication of "I didn't see the pic, so prove it!". An implication only enhanced by the absolute ease which I found the first three of the pics in about 15seconds including page load times. When it's that easy, most call-out folks are BS-ing about having looked at all. If you did look, you did so in an exceptionally lackadaisical manner. However you want the situation skinned, getting pissy over it when the link was offered didn't help.

I went to the pages where they go over the features of the ipad and iphone, that detail wasn't there.

http://www.apple.com/ipad/

http://www.apple.com/iphone/

and also the store:

http://store.apple.com/us

It is obvious now, but when I went to look I simply did not look at the mac lineup, the comment I read was comparing the iphone and ipad, and I just focused in on those too much and missed the Forest for the trees in that regard. I clearly see now the line on the nano, macbook pros, imac, etc....

I asked for a link, particularly as I assume you pulled the image off the page - why not just link it from the get?

I was a smart ass because that was the road you went down in your response, Implying people were idiots for not seeing it to begin with. I think you assumed some inference in my initial request and responded based on the assumption that I was calling you a liar, which I wasn't.

I had just been to numerous pages on apples site and had not run into the one you posted.

Are you as daft as you just made yourself out to be?

I didn't make the post you asked for a link to! hentaiboy did. I just provided the link to an apparent lazy whiner.

And http://www.apple.com/ipad/ does have the pic if you clicked on http://www.apple.com/ipad/features. Stopping an investigation at the top level link of a websiite and claiming something doesn't exist on the site is plain lazy and disingenuous

You were a smart ass because you took offense to being called lazy. Which you confirmed AGAIN by still not noticing that the original linker and the link provider (me) are different posters.

If it was so bloody simple for little old me to find the multiple versions of hentaiboy's pic without having posted it originally, you must have been really sloppy or not looking at all. Open your damn eyes and SEE! There's a whole damn world out there ready to be discovered if you are willing to actually pay attention to even gross level detail.

No, that link you provided does not have those markings on the ipad renderings, unless my browser goes to a different page that yours.

Again, I never claimed it didn't exist, I said I didn't SEE IT. Asking for a link on a forum is pretty standard stuff. I didn't ask for it with any sort of attitude.

You brought the attitude.

Enough already, I said I went there but missed the forest for the trees by not looking around enough. It wasn't laziness, I went and looked, just obviously in the wrong places. You are giving me links even now that do not show what you are claiming they show.

For every picture you can link showing an ipad with that line, I can show you ten rendering on the apple site that do not, so I just dont get your pompous attitude.

I missed it and admitted as much.

Why you needed to post again berating me for that - I have no idea. Its seriously not a big deal. Ease up off your insults.

Seriously, both those links together have about 40 renderings of the ipad, and not a single one has that line.
