Power transfer Optically is tough if not impossible... so needing power and high speed channels, copper makes sense. There is a 10 watt limit of power available in TB. Copper cable lengths are also limited to 3 meters. Once optical is available (who knows what second generator is) then 100 meter lengths are achievable... but then power has to be handled differently.
