Is Apple TV compatible with an older TV?

Thread Starter
This is my first post. This seemed like something I would find on a thread search but I didn't see anything. I have an 11 year old Panasonic TV. It is not digital or high definition. It was a good TV at the time and it has component video input, which I use for my DVD player.

I'm interested in watching streaming video from Netflix and other sources, but I'm not sure whether an Apple TV requires an HDTV set. I'd rather not buy a new TV, and I don't want to watch video on my computer. I'm just interested in the convenience and availability of streaming content. Will Apple TV work with my old set?

You need HDMI.

If you get an older Apple TV, you can use component. Whether that can be adaptered to composite, I don't know.
