Finding out names for stuff

Also, in Poland they sell these small, plastic gizmos with a small metal thing in the inside. You put it in your mouth, and make really cool noises with it. They're sold everywhere on the streets, everyone had them. Its a highpitch buzzing noise, that you can control, so that its really variable, and you can mimick emotions really well. We called them Meepers, but thats not really what the are called, does anyone know what they are actually called, or do i need to go back to poland to buy some?

Feel free to add your own unfindable, un-nameable objects to the list. . .

For the first one I would have the shocking suggestion you ring the shop where your parents bought the chair, describe to them what it looks like and they're bound to know what it's called, who makes it and whether you can get another. If they're still being made they could give you the name of the distributor and he could tell you what the nearest sales channel is for the chair.

For the second one I would suggest icq ing someone in Poland.

i'm a chair freak (no really, i am). if you could describe it better, and/or post a pic, it would really help to identify it.

The second one sounds like some kind of bastard kazzoo. I can't help you with the chair.

Looks like a seat from a dune buggy. Popular in the 70s too.

Whoa. I'm quite a chair freak myself (yes, like roo, there are 2 or 3 of us out there) and can honestly say I've never seen anything like this (well, marketed anyway). My 'professional' opinion is that somebody with an extra CJ-7 and a knowledge of upholstery created this monstrosity. If you really want another one, check eBay. The CJ-7 had two front seats, and I'm sure the sister is out there somewhere.

well, it looks vaguely familiar, though i don't have my reference books here to confirm. however, its definetly 1970s, though i'm thinking not a large manufactuer, more custom or boutique-y. perhaps a knock off of another, more famous design. that would make it harder to find another one. there are quite a few places online that specialize in 1960s/70s furnishings, you may want to google for them. when i can get to the books, i'll check for you. also, i've seen similar rockers, though different designs, so you may be able to find a similar chair.

NOW we're talking! Those two were unbelievably talented. Last year a client gave me 2 Eames molded plywood chairs for Christmas. I think I might have cried.

wow, i'm so jealous. when i get to the point in my life where i have a stable living space (no more switching apartments every year) i will be buying quite a few chairs... poor jack has to put up with my chair habit-- me pointing out designs on tv, on the street, complaining about knock-offs of famous designs... though he has learned to identify a barcelona chair.

I was just searching for this same thing as I see on a 10 year old thread.  I have a bionic chair that I purchased in the late 1970s or early 1980s.  Most people think it is a van seat but it is rounded and very comfortable for the low back.  It can balance on a fulcrum.  It came in many colors and had another piece that helped support the neck.  The trade name WAS bionic  chair at the time but I can't find any sign of them having existed!  The cushion that slipped over the top for the neck may have had some identifying information so I'll keep looking for that.

I replied somewhere lower down in this thread but just letting you know that I have this chair - and love it!

I have several of these chairs and need new covers..... If you have any ideas, please let me know.....
